Ulrich is on FIRE! 11-5 on JJ, 11-7 on Alex, 11-0 on Dominguez...this man is in gear.

Alcano is a monster! 11-0 on Bartrum, 11-7 on Efren, 11-3 on Kiamco...this man is ready for anyone.

SVB is ready for the big show! 11-5 on Ochoa, 11-1 on Chad Pike, 11-8 on Sparky, 11-3 on Marcus, playing Wiseman right now.

SVB & Ronnie have each played under the biggest lights (and have been in the winners circle before) so they should get to the finals...with our man SVB winning!

Any update on the Orcullo vs Walden match? I would not count out Orcullo yet if he wins that one. Also, Efren Reyes is still alive and kicking in the loser's bracket and Jose Parica might yet spring a surprise.

I have all the respect for Parica, but I just don't think he can get there. The Open favors the young and he has shown weakness in the final rounds in the past (his finals against Alex comes to mind).

The recent winners have been "breakout" winners. JJ, Gabe, Corey, Alex...all had won tourneys but not the stature of the Open. OK ok, Earl was an exception.

EDIT: Looking better for me...Ulrich over Robles 11-1! Watch Jose stick it to me for what I said above.

Alex had won 'The Big Thing', ie WPC, but otherwise your statements, especially your predictions for the winners are pretty wise. Efren might surprise though, he did have some sparkle in his eyes..

Best Record

Just crunching the numbers...

Ulrich (55-18)
Alcano (55-15)

No one else's #s impressive enough to post.

Thanks for the correction. I thought it went US Open in '04 and WPC in '05. It was the other way 'round.

Here's Alex's list of major titles. He had done so much in so little time!

2007 World Summit of Pool
2006 Philippine National Championship
2005 Philippines Snooker Team Gold Medal, SEA Games
2005 US Open Nine-ball Championship
2005 Derby City Classic Ten-ball Ring Game Champion
2005 SML Entertainment Nine-ball Champion
2004 WPA World Nine-ball Championship
2003 Joss Tour Grand Final Winner
2003 Carolinas Open Nine-ball Division, Goldsboro, North Carolina
2003 IBC Western Canadian Open
2002 World Pool Trickshot Champion

He finished 2nd at:

2006 Derby City Classic One-Pocket Championships
2003 WPA World Nine-ball Championship
2002 US Open Nine-ball Championship

It may be a little bit of a longshot, but I wouldn't count out James Walden coming from the one-loss side.

all i can say is Alcano is a BEAST! he looks as though this game takes no effort at all.

Sorry for patting myself on the back but...all I can say is I handicapped this one pretty good. Louis' fire got doused a little early (5-6th), but I called the final two & the winner.

How do you like that...SVB is the current 10B World Champion and the current 9B Open Champion!! How many times has anything like this occured before?

Earl's got a mountain to climb in a few weeks if he wants to take down this young man. I wish Strickland luck, but I can't see him out gunning the kid these days.
