Finally figured out what has been holding me back...

I recently got back into playing after a while and have consumed all the instructional materials I can find, I am practicing often, and waiting on my new Diamond table to be delivered in a few weeks :)

I realized today that the one thing holding me back is obvious! I don't have a pool nickname...

So , give me a nickname so I can move on to world pool domination, I promise I'll credit you during my HOF induction.

Some info to help:

I'm 42 years old, born in Baltimore. 6ft tall and slender with thinning hair and a greying goatee but still look a few years younger than my age. I spent 8 years in the Air Force in the 90's, and I now work from home doing software engineering & management for Cisco. At my best I was probably playing at a B level, currently I'm playing at low C. My favorite foods are cheeseburgers and steamed crabs. I also enjoy playing video games and guitar.

Cisco Slim

Thanks for all the contributions, fun thread.

I'm going to stick with Willy Cornbread as long as it doesn't sound like I am comparing myself to Red. Someone called me that in like 9th grade once (was eating cornbread in math class) and I then used it when I started needing usernames.

Thanks for the help, you are all in trouble now since I'm sure it was the only thing stopping me from going pro ;)

So your name WAS bestowed on you.....it'll do just fine.

Since you now have an official pool hall name....I need the 7/8....
...if you were named after a state or a city, I'd need the 6 also.

You guys are funny - thanks again.

WillyCornbread it is... Cisco Slim is very cool, but I'll probably get fired once the table is in my house.

Did you say Air Force?

Off he goes looking for nine ball action,
Driving fast to the pool hall
Here he comes walkin' to a Diamond table
No Gold Crowns for this Baltimore son
Down he goes, prepping to smash the cue ball
He cracks them hard, so says the gun
The nine falls in and he wins again. Hey!
Nothin' kills Binary Bill cept Alt-F4!

Best I can do.

Binary Bill, there are 10 kinds of people in this world; those that know binary and those that don't.

Cisco or Baltimore Cisco. Either would be good. Baltimore Slim

A friend of mine from Baltimore thinks it should be "Old Bay."

What about something that incorporates the nickname of Baltimore itself "Charm City"?

Perhaps you could explore your family roots, like I did, to find a name.
My first name, Tramp, was a playful euphemism my Father used in describing my Mother.
Steamer, came from what my Grandfather's dog did in the yard, when let out on a cold frosty morning.
Rather catchy, don't you think?

How about 'Corned Beef'? It goes good with cabbage which is what you'll need plenty of if you give pt, the 6. :)

That was my point. If you have a nickname that was BESTOWED upon you, it was for a reason. So why would you be looking for a new one from people who don't even know you?? Whatever ... it's all good. Good luck WillyCornbread. Oh, and pt109 doesn't need all that weight ... he's looking to trap you!

Aloha

I thought everybody from Baltimore just called each other "Hun"?

Or if you are really into crabs, maybe we should call you "itchy or scratch"

Sorry couldn't resist.

Aloha

BTW, your original post seams like something that should be on a dating website.... Just saying.
