The announcements of pool table installations on this forum appear equivalent to announcements of births, weddings, baptisms... & having spent my first hours with it in the basement, I understand why.

I have an 8' antique Brunswick Madison. It came with new rails & cushions, new cloth, a set of Aramith balls, a wooden rack, & bridge for $700.

It is unfinished & partially painted so my wife's first response was to initiate discussions of stripping, oiling..., but I am focussed upon function rather than aesthetics.

It will be so nice to be free of the drunks, loud music, & smoke at the bar in my town of 3000 people. Quiet afternoons meant feeding the monster quarters. 50 mile drives to the city to play at pool halls were tedious.

just think when you get insominia just get up and play some pool..nice..enjoy..:)

I'll be all happy when I get my table. Only a seven-footer - but it's a decent table at a decent price (buying from family member) and the room I've got, a seven's all that will go in there... but it'll be a TABLE that I can practice on whenever I like.

Just got to get the room itself cleaned out so I can make the appointment with the table movers...

Congrats!!!

Congrats berlowmj on the new addition. I have had mine at home for around 30 years two diff houses. 7 of those were in an unfinished basement. Although mine is not drunkproof! :D Enjoy!!!

I have no doubt that you will enjoy having a table in your basement .... you just have to be carefull not to let the laundry pill up on it  Mine was just uncovered the other day (%$#@&*! horizontal surfaces :( ) and after finishing cleaning up the summer renovation leftovers yesterday, I had a small marathon session last night :D

You'll be amazed how much you can learn when it is so easy to get to a table and try things for 15 minutes or 3 hours or whatever :)
