Financing a cue

Well I have the money for it.. Just rather finance it. It's easier paying a little at a time then all at once!!

And how much does doing that cost you in interest?

Pay it all at once, unless you're working to establish credit. If you don't have many cards, or have never financed something, then there is a positive. Finance it, check for early payment penalty, and then pay it off within 2 months.

Most dealers will layaway a cue.. "true" financing, taking a % down and allowing the person to pay the cue off, while he has it, can put a dealer or cuemaker in a precarious position when payments aren't made. (Remember the people you are asking to be trusted, are in pool) We have done many layways, but never a true financing where we held the note, per se.

What happens when payments are missed? Guy goes broke and sells the cue, and now you got nothing...

The trouble I had in the last 3-4 years, pre-sending trades, and trusting people I previously done deals with, just to get hosed... screw that.. it took a while but I learned...

Different strokes

For me it's the only way I can afford cues
Have them made
Make a deposit
Save up while it's being built
Easy

This makes no sense if you can make a down payment and save while its built you have no reason to finance anything. More patience maybe.

As far as vehicles go if you buy a cheap one and pay yourself a payment each month you can continuously upgrade with out loans. Not always practical though.

Point is a house, car, medical or otherwise emergencies that you dont have an emergecy fund for are needs not wants.

Randy Mobley did it for me. I gave him a bunch of money, then a good but of time went by and I gave him a bunch more money and he gave me a really nice cue. Extremely hassle free and I highly recommend it.

No one in their right mind wants to give up the merchandise, custom cue or just a Merry Widow,
without first getting paid. The interest income from financing is insignificant.......cues are strictly
a cash and carry business. I know that Bob Owen will accept installment payments on a custom
cue which obviously needs to be paid in full prior to shipping it. He was very gracious with me on
both of my custom builds, as was Jerry Rauenzahn, but he's about ready to retire pretty soon.

Personally I hate owing anyone money. I go cash and carry for everything but vehicles. Now if it's a deal that I can pay off same as cash with no interest, that is fantastic. I just don't believe in throwing my money away in the form of interest to finance stuff.

I've purchased quite a few customs from a few different dealers/builders.

Roy Mallot - IndyQ (has tons of inventory, but would not recommend him. The Man is a Nut job). Enter at your own risk...

Martin Bick - Superior Cues (Martin is one of the best in the Business).

Tom Watters - Recollection Cues ( Another great guy to deal with with a good selection)

Most cue builders will take payments as well. Just call them.

Is their any dealers that offer a percent down and a payment plan for cues?

So Pool Shark... do you like to play pool for money? If so, you should not consider lay away. If you gamble, set aside some winnings until you can pay cash. It will work out better for you.
