Finding the good lepro

Well I've tried triangle before and I didn't like them, I still prefer lepro. I love it's sound, and the feel of the hit. I know lepros are different, and maybe I'm not after the hardest lepro out there, but some of the lepros I played with before felt so good, but I can't describe them, so now I don't know how to look for them, I just need to get lucky.

the past 3 lepros I installed wasn't my cup of tea, and now I don't even want to change again, I'm tired of going to the repair cue man one more time.

Make sure your repairman presses the Triangle and LePro in a vise before installing. That way the tip will play right off the bat like an unpressed one will in a month when it gets packed down.

The secret is to cut with a razor blade and not a carbide cutter. The heat generated by the carbide breaks down the bonding. A sharp razor blade cuts way cleaner and with less heat.

I put LePros on all the time and have very few "bad ones". I also buy the 13.5 mm, and yes they do make 13.5 mm tips you just have to know where to look. The retailers that have them had to special order a case to get them as it is not a regular size.

The closer you get to ferrule size the less you have to cut off and the less heat is built up while cutting.

keep the heat down.
If you want to stiff the tip up before install hit it with a hammer to tighten the binders.

Hi Brickcues, The guy I go to has the 13.5 lepro's, he also has the 14mm lepros, next time I will tell him to put the 13.5 ones, but about the cutting and the heating, I have no idea myself how the guy works on the tip, I cant go inside his working area, so I can't tell for sure whats he doing or what is his method of installing a tip, thats why it's hard for me to determine if he's doing it right or wrong, but one thing I know for sure, he doesn't use any heating method.

No one would intentionally use a heating method.

What brick was explaining is the effect of trimming a tip with a standard
lathe cutter in a tool post. The inserts designed for alum seem
to avoid most of the heat problem. But a razor blade
or new utility blade can work even better.

Guys can I ask one follow up question, does the tiger sniper tip play close enough to a good lepro? if no, which tip is the closest to a good lepro, and I tried triangle didn't seem to like it. so I am looking for a closest tip to my lepro liking other than triangle, thanks.

I'm learning toward sniper, let me know what you think

I too played with a Le-Pro for years and still use them on a few cues. I have changed to the Talisman Hard layered tip. Of course once you knock down a few layers it plays very well. Holds chalk allot better than the Le-Pro by far. My game took off cause that the leather tip can place a little more English when needed. The tip has held it’s form for about 8months strong now on my playing cue and love it. I let you decide

LePro

Haven't installed a LePro in a very long time. Had a few of them left so I installed them on the corners of all my Wifes jewelry boxes and such that she keeps on the dresser tops and dining table. They work great there, keeps the bottons of the boxes from scratching everything ;)

Thought I was the only one that used a hammer on non layered tips. Seemed logical to me that it would simulate the break in period better than pressing.
