I have heard people on this forum talk many times about their level of play i.e I'm a C player or I'm a B+ player but what I would like to know is how can I work out where my game is at.

Videotape yourself playing for half an hour and don't edit it or keep doing it till you perform the best.
There is a lot more to this game than just shooting balls in the hole.
Post the video and I am sure 50 people on here can give you an accurate rating.
You have to show the mistakes as well as the runs or it doesn't mean jack.

I'd say you're a C.

Three things point to that.

Your break/jump cue is better than your playing cue.
You post your fastest break in your signature instead of a high run, and that number is pretty low.
You have a quote that you attribute to 2013 when that was used by Grady and Billy in many matches they commentated on for over 20 years.

All that adds up to a pretty new player.

Aside from that, if you can run an average of 3-4 balls pretty much anytime you get to the table in 9 ball with ball in hand, you're a C.
5-6 B
6-9 A

That's from an average over at least 10 games. That should give you a pretty good average of your normal speed.

Ah, yes ... very astute reply hang-the-9!

My top break speed is 29.7 MPH... just figured I would toss that out there...lol

The "playing the ghost" drills and rating systems are a simple way to measure your offensive "speed" as a player.

The Billiard University (BU) playing-ability exams are more accurate and test a wider range of skills.

If you try the BU Exams, please consider posting scores (and videos if possible) on the AZB BU thread, as others have done.

Good luck,
Dave

I typically run 5-6 balls with BIH in 9-ball, but I don't consider myself a B player based on other ratings I've read on AZ. More like a strong C on my best days. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
