Fine Billiard Instruments

Truly special cues come out of Jackson, TN. There is a history here for fine cues, and World Class and Thoroughbred cues carry on that tradition. I have some photographs of cues made from John Davis blanks. Mr. Davis is a legend in blank making, having supplied blanks for the greatest Cue Maker ever, George Balabushka. That lineage is not something to dismiss, a pedigree that will forever be linked to the finest Billiard instruments. Working with these blanks is not easy, and requires the experience of a master Cue Maker to achieve results that are perfect. The following photographs were provided by the maker and his customers. I combined them to show everyone the beautiful cues that still come out of Jackson, TN.
SPECIAL THANKS GO OUT TO JOHN,TONY,JESS,AND TOMMY

Tony called me up a little while ago and put me to work. He has some fantastic cues in the works.

Can't wait to get it. Tony's cues are up there with the best cues in my collection. I love his work and whilst I know he is making only a handful of cues (very low production), I wish more collectors and players could experience his work (instead of me, Fatboy and Walker Bower).

Whilst staying with Dennis Searing.....John Showman and Ron Haley came over and all three of them remarked on the exceptional work Tony produces when I showed them my two new Thoroughbred cues. Big accolades indeed and a fitting testament to how good Tony's work is.

fine cues

Just how is it you can talk about fine cues and Jackson Tn and not also mention Bill McDaniel? Half the people you did mention learned the trade in his shop.

?? Eh ???

Just for information, all the people mentioned worked with Bill for years. The point is, since Bill has retired, there is the CONTINUING tradition of fine cues from Jackson....which is what Tommy was trying to point out. Its not a thread about Bill, there are plenty of them and not one person listed here would deny his contribution to their skills. Please don't turn this thread into another slanging match....ok?

Tommy,
Are these cues for sale?
thanks-jeff

First let me clarify. Without the Genius of Bill McDaniel none of these cues would be here. Bill not only made it possible for the people mentioned here, he also made it possible for some of the most highly regarded Cue Makers today. All the cues pictured are sold. The Thoroughbred cues are like Bill's Duck Calls, you can only get one if you know him. The World Class cues are just about as hard to obtain.

this is just AWESOME!!!!! We talked about this along time ago, I am lucky enough to own the origonal Bushka that inspired this cue. What we should do is photograph both of them together, I absolutely love this cue, The one I have dosent have the origonal shafts it has real bushka shafts but they are worn down to nothing, the wrap on mine is the one that you cant see the seam on its so perfect. It also is one of the best hitting Bushkas I have ever played with, the butt sleve is my favorite of all Bushkas. Man I'm thrilled to see this cue come to life. The cool thing is Tony said he saw a Bushka he wanted build and he directed to a pic of it online, I couldnt believe it that I owned the one he wanted to build, It was just a coincedence. I would like to know the history of the cue.
