So, this is not as easy to write as I thought it might be. I am a hard core 14.1 player, and I've been playing with "old skool" cues for 20 years. Lately I have been experimenting with all kinds of equipment....from OB-1 to obscure makers looking for anything that might feel new to me.

Last week I traded away a beautiful cue for a package that included a Schon STL1 with a Predator 314-2 shaft. I screwed this combo together and within an hour ran 56, then played some VERY good 1pocket, not missing but 2 balls in 6 racks!

This cue felt like I have owned it for 10 years? I gave Predator a try maybe 10 years ago, but could not get the hang of it? why it's different this time I do not know? What I do know is I'm shooting the ball into "sides" of the pocket, and when I"m doing that I'm playing my top gear!

So, after many years of looking down my nose at "tech" Predator shafts I need to rethink, and appologise for the bad mouthing. I guess I needed to go through a learning process to get to this point, and I"m glad it's over! :D

thats it.....the search is officially over!

Congratulations on your discovery of the holy frail of cues. I wish you two many years of stroking enjoyment.

oh it's such a good feeling when you stroke something new and it does what you want?

great combo have one myself put prefer my P2 to the schon/Pred combo.

I've played that way with new {to me} cues. Then, after a couple of weeks, reality sets in and I'm playing like I did before I changed cues. I hope you're playing as well with it in three weeks or a month.

I've always played with a regular shaft and only tried my friends' cues with a Predator shaft or OB-1 or whatever. My observation is that the 314-2 feels more solid and balanced than the older Predator shafts and I also like the taper. Too bad my Scruggs has a special Acme thread and there are no Predator shafts for it in stock anywhere and I don't want to start spending a couple of hundred bucks for a shaft I might not like in the end and which I cannot sell. So I'll just stick with the regular shaft.

Keep shootin' 'em straight Gerry !

I have the First Gen with the small 314 and I have shot with the new 314 and the 314-2. I feel that the new version 314's are actually not as stiff as the first gens. Just my .02.

The first time I tried a predator 314 a few years ago I didn't like it. I didn't know how to shoot with the shaft and it didn't work for me. A friend talked me into trying them again and this time I tried harder to get the predator shafts to work for me and i've never played better since I switched to predators. I have a Paul Mottey cue which Paul matched the ring work on a couple of predator shafts for my cue and I really like it. I finally found the cue and shaft combination that works for me and i'm sticking with it. I got a chance to try an OB1 shaft at the US Open last year and it played well, but I like my predator shafts a little better.

I used a Pred. shaft for a year...I did not mind the low deflection...

I stopped using it becuase I just did not like the hit

I used it on a Schon butt and just liked the normal customized taper Schon shaft better.

I would actaully like to try a OB1 shaft...Rumer has it the hit is much better than the Pred shaft...

But I guess the "hit" is all subjective anyway...
