bought a stingray hide and it looked great, nice little black bumps and it felt great. i started to cut it and it would not cut straight, i tried everything in my shop, shears, different scissors, and muti razor knives. the little bumps are as hard as dried epoxy. i finally got it on, and it looked so bad i stripped it off, NO MORE STINGRAY FOR ME.

I have done one myself. The customer supplied the skin. It was a bear of a job. As you said very hard to cut I used tin snips to cut it to size then sanded the edge to get the seam down.
Still didn't like the outcome but the customer thought it looked great.
I told him that was my last one of them and it was on the house.

send me an address and i will send you a piece big enough for a wrap, as i bought a big hide, it will be a while before i can shap. my jewelry store got burglizered last night and they got about 3ook in gold and diamonds. i need a few days to work the mess out. later chuck

If I may. Take a cheap wrap, cheapest you can find. Apply it with Watered down elmers glue. Pull it off, wash down handle. Put wrap upside down on board, mark it and T square run lines. Apply contact cement to outside of lines and where outside of lives would be on other wrap. Apply skin to board and use your first piece of lether again upside down to follow the markings you made and tape. Run a T square accross and dremel tool a cut out of the like mold you have made.

This is by no means a perfect science to do it but if you HAVE to charge big time and plan a few extra skins for an oooops.

I found a lot easier to cut the stingray wrap on the back side where you usually apply the glue.
