First BNR

Finally, after about 10 months of playing pool I made my very first 9 ball break&run. What a great feeling this is to me, as I have come very close dozens of times, only to choke on the pressure on the last ball :embarrassed2: Today was the day for me that huge mental barrier came down, as the very last ball dropped down. I dont even remember when I would have been so excited as that moment, it felt so great to finally do what I have been so anxiously trying for some time now :D
And to top it off, it came just at right time, on the hill in a race to 5 playing with my fiancee ;)
My first 8 ball bnr came in a similiar situation, playing against an older gentleman at the time, leading 4-3 in a race to 5. Sealed the deal in the last rack with a break and run.
8 ball bnr's come every now and then so they dont feel as special anymore, but this 9 ball has been a real pain to overcome for some reason. I'm sure that the 9ball bnr will eventually be just like the 8 is now, another well played rack on the way to the next one, but the first is always the first. The hardest to do, often a moment to remember for the most of us

Share your first bnr's, high runs or breaks and so on if you still recall them, it would be nice to hear these moments of triumph from the fellow AZ'ers

congrats on your first 9ball BNR, also doing it in 10 months is great!

however, almost losing to your fiancé is a definite no-no !

I had my first 9 ball runout at age 12.....it felt good and made me want many more......congrats and let it inspire you for many more

Congratulations. It's a great feeling to do.

I have several in 8 ball, just can't seem to string one together for 9 ball, not for lack of trying lol.

Congratulations on your first 9ball break and run.

Also, congratulations on your upcoming marriage. Best wishes to you both.

Sounds like you found a keeper...that plays pool too.

Maximizing PMTT (post marriage table time)...may benefit from the occasional 'loss':p//just sayin:eek:

Congrats! Always an awesome feeling, let alone your first!

Had one this weekend in 8 ball at our tricup tournament to start a match off, then immediately hit a 8 on the break to go ahead 2-0 without my opponent getting to the table. Then e08ed twice and lost. All I could do was laugh. Congrats on yours!

This thread came to mind this evening and I thought to share a little update since those times

I started the days set with a 2pac, then lost a rack, won the next one and ran the remaining 3 for the win  Out of curiosity I racked again but missed a combo that had to be taken on to run out, failing to come up with a bigger package this time.

Still nice to see some progress in my game, the year and a half that it has been from the first 9 ball BNR it has turned in to chasing packages. I guess a pool player can never be content with what he has but is always craving for more. As a friend of mine once said, even if you run out seven in a row you are still going to get pissed about missing a ball in the 8th rack  Needless to say he can play a little with ambition like that.

On a serious note it was a blast playing tonight and so good for motivation to have that occasional moment of dead stroke when you just cant miss. Mine was just on for a while, all I have to do now is to turn that mode on the table permanent, right ;)

Congratulations!

It does bring back some great memories.
And it is a memory YOU will cherish the rest of your life.
:-)

A lot of people don't realize how hard it is to run a rack a nine ball from the break. Especially if it's a tough layout and you had to do some minor surgery with the cueball. Congrats!!! Its a very big hurdle and we have all been there so enjoy :-)

Now you have to wait for rack two!! If you're playing well you might not notice the second rack until you're breaking the 3rd. Then... The pressure really starts to mount because you are now in the package category. It only gets tougher as you keep pushing forward. Well... At least for us mere mortals. Best of luck to you and have fun :-)

Congratulations on the improvement of your game.

Any specs on the table? home table?

I remember my first 9b B&R.

It was over a dozen years ago at Danny Greens in Toronto. They would often have a challenge table for $1 a game on the front table. Challenger breaks.

I walk in and wait for my turn. I screw my cues together and break and run. Much hooting and hollering among the regulars, as this was not anything at all likely.

I still have the $1 in my cue case.

Sadly I took a decade off from pool a few years after that.

Congrats! Just one of many to come. I don't remember my first but I do remember it being a great feeling. I took about a decade off before joining a VNEA league last fall. I've yet to do it during a match only before and after league play. Extremely frustrating! This week is the last week this session and against the first place team. Hoping to come up big with my 2 breaks.

Congrats on both the upcoming marriage, and the BNR. I wish you a very special day, and many more racks to come, with your new soon to be Mrs. :)
Best regards Kimmo.

P.S. I still manage to run a rack of 8 ball every now and again. ;)
