First break & run

So I started playing pool at the beginning of July and have been playing pretty much everyday since then. Yesterday was the first time that after breaking, I ran all 9 balls at once. Felt pretty great.

There isn't really a point to this thread, just felt like I should share my excitement about getting better at the game.
That is great!
If you are hooked on the game, do yourself a huge favor and get instruction before you develop bad habits. Money spent on lessons now will show enough return later to pay for all the cues and accessories you might desire.

Congrats on your first 9-ball runout. I can remember my 1st 6-ball, 8-ball and 10-ball runouts, but can't remember the 9-ball one.

Now you need to start on the 2,3,and 4 packs and beating the 9-ball ghost with BIH after break. Good luck to you, Johnnyt

Congratulations on your achievement. For me it took several years to achieve my first break and run. But then I had breaks of not playing. When it finally happened for me I was attending the BCA trade show in Vegas with my employer. I was working for a local pro shop at the time. I had a chance to play a challenge game with CJ Wiley at the McDermott booth. CJ gave me a signature model cue of his to use and the break. I broke, made a ball and ran out. My first break and run. CJ gave me an autographed pic and wrote great shooting. That made for a strong memory. It took awhile afterwards to get to a point where I was able to do that regularly. But I got there, and u will too as long as u stay focused on ur practice regimen.

We like to win at golf, but if we can't do that, we want a decent score, perhaps a PB, but what keeps us coming back, is that occasional magnificent shot, that went just as imagined.

Running out gives us that feeling. It's an addictive thing Sam, enjoy the bug that has bitten you. May it strike many more times and much more often.

Thanks everyone!

I've been taking lessons from Sylvain Grenier, a pro in Trois-Rivières who owns the pool hall where I play. He's a great teacher and is always willing to answer any questions I might have!
