And I almost missed it. One of my customers had to come and tell me I was late for my match.

Won my first match at Derby. Feel schizophrenic. Every shot I have the voices of all the good players from Jamaica Joes in my head. Thank you Shane Ragland, Jacob McMichael, Russ Hibbler, Justin, Miller, and James Walden and Eddie Carver and Joey Gray. Can't ask for a better support team. And thanks to all my online friends who have helped me become a better player.

Lou sweated my match and once when I made a good shot I turned and asked him if he learned anything. :-) He was too far away to hear me.

Then later I sweated his match against Brumback. He lost 3:1. I paid John $10 jelly off the $20 I won betting against Lou. John said Lou didn't play good and I agree. He is going to need more than he showed against Brumback to beat me IMO. Maybe if he buys back I will get to see something more impressive.

Overall I am happy to be here. Seeing a lot of old friends, meeting a lot of new ones. The cases are well received and sales are steady.

Haven't really made it into the action room yet. Lots and lots going on - need more free time to enjoy it all. Steve Booth let me back on One Pocket.org and said I could have gone back anytime. Saw Freddy Bentevegna but no TV crew - pretty late though. Lots of action happening - a 7k set started up near Lou's match.

So that's the report for the moment.

A thinly veiled thread about DCC so you can bring up the name Lou once more.

If a person didn't know better, they might think that a person is obsessed with another person.

Like a Beavis and Butthead show in itself.

Beavis. Hey Butthead, did you hear what he said, he said Lou, heh, heh, heh, heh, yeah, yeah, Lou, heh, heh, heh, yeah, yeah, Lou, heh, heh,, Lou.

Butthead, Cool man.

When a member clicks on one of your threads, its a certainty that somewhere within, will include the word Lou.

Its like, you think of Lou, get instant pole, and start humping air at 40 MPH like a horny old leg hound.

So that's the report for the moment.

In amongst the fixation, you missed the fact you went over 20,000 posts. ;)

John it was nice to meet you on Saturday night and thanks for taking the time to look at a few cases and discuss them. You have some nice stuff. Good luck in the tournament.

Some of you are really ________. Let me explain the situation.....

Lou and I ARE scheduled to play for $10,000. We are both here at DCC. People are talking about it to me. The game is one pocket. Everyone here knows that Lou is a major DCC player who gets "in the cash" every time.

So.....my DCC experience and reporting is GOING to include some details pertaining to the experience from the road to the big game. It will be from the perspective of how I feel about playing and being observed by my opponent relates to the pressure of the coming match.

Of COURSE I am obsessed with Lou right now. I am fixing to play the guy for $10,000+ For POOL PLAYING all I think about is Lou and One Pocket. So if you don't want to read about my one pocket journey and how I am handling and thinking about it, including my thoughts and observations about my opponent - DO NOT OPEN MY THREADS ABOUT POOL.

Finally, I want to say that I am LOVING IT here. Meeting so many cool people, rapping about AZ and all the idiots (ourselves included) - seeing some of the topics come to life - is really cool.

I had a guy, completely random person, didn't even offer his name, stop in the booth and say, "I just want to shake your hand, your video on CTE has helped me out tremendously, I was having trouble and after a watched your video I got it and I use it now. It really helps to fall perfect on the shot line." And he left. I mean that's cool for me to have people say they were helped by stuff I put on YouTube that was born out of the forum discussions.

Without the arguing about CTE I wouldn't have been motivated to put up videos about it. Stan wouldn't have been motivated to make professional DVD and I wouldn't be here trying my heart out to put it to use trying to play good one pocket and be matched up to play one of the critics of it for 10,000 dollars.

So forgive me if I find the dynamics at play here fascinating and am enjoying them. I feel bad for those of you who are sitting at home raving at me and looking for any type of post you can make to put me down while I am here giving you my stream-of-consciousness observations of being at a real event, in real life, with real people playing real pool.

Then later I sweated his match against Brumback. He lost 3:1. I paid John $10 jelly off the $20 I won betting against Lou. John said Lou didn't play good and I agree. So, you won your match against a guy that is not even fit for print, and Lou lost against Brumback

Nice story, but surely nothing more then some cheap shots at Lou.... At least when I take my shots at Lou, and I have in the past, I try to make them worthy shots . Just saying :)

I'm all ears when you are up against a player whose name we might even have actually heard of ;) I might even buy you a beer !!

Correct. I reported what happened. Lou played bad against Brumback and John told me that as well. John has a lot of respect for Lou and his game. John just banked EVERY makeable bank and ou left a few too many.

I wouldn't say Kurt's name isn't fit to print though, he shoots REAL STRAIGHT and if he knew more about one pocket then I would have lost my first DCC match. I am not taking cheap shots at Lou.....I am telling it like it is - he came and sweated my match and I won and I sweated his and he lost. If he plays the same against me as he did against Brumback then I like my chances. Of course he won't feel the same pressure against me as against Brumback.

Have fun knocking me because while you are doing that I am having fun at the DCC.

Met Ray Hansen last night too. He has a cool setup. Delivered his case a year late but he was happy and said it was worth the wait. (like how I inserted a commercial for JB cases in there too?)

:-) Knock Knock. Who's there? Knockers. Knockers who? Knocking knockers that's who.

Oh and RJ, regarding cheap shots. Listen, Lou has been taking cheap shots at me for a decade. If he can't handle a few zingers now then he shouldn't have never agreed to play. His mouth got him in the game and his cue will have to get him out of it.

I will take all the shots I want leading up to the game, cheap and expensive.

Stopping in Cahokia to watch him practice cost me a day of sales at the DCC. I paid a good price for that shot but it was well worth it. It's my $10,000+ on the line. No one is staking me so I will take all the shots I want for the money I am putting up.

I was a little scared by the silent Bob strategy considering that Lou was all gung-ho for barking up the match - but I guess that was only when he thought he was going to get paid a percentage of a PPV. Now that it's a free stream he doesn't seem to have any interest in some pre-match woofing. Well, I do because that's half the fun. Shame on me if I bark and then lose and good for me if I bark and win.

Now, it's POSSIBLE that Lou dogged it against Brumback on purpose to get me overconfident. If so, it did work for a few minutes when I called my wife and told her to start looking for trips to the Maldives. But then I sobered up and realized that Lou does play pretty good and I have to be ready for whatever comes. I was relieved to see that he didn't manhandle Brumback and show some Efren speed. I have to say that listening to Jane Monheit sing Over the Rainbow is damn powerful inspiration and I was a little shaken at the thought that I would see Lou in a state of Zen playing perfect one pocket. But I was happy to see that he is human and fallible and makes some bad one pocket decisions.

Takes a little pressure off. Now I just have to focus on finishing higher than him. :-) My goals are simple.

I don't think Lou dogged it on purpose. Brumback is a hell of a player, and neither one of you is good enough to beat him even.

Plus, even if Lou steamrolled through and won the event, it's not like you're not going to play him. Unless you want to lose the money you posted.

Also I do want to thank Hal Houle, Stan Shuffett, Dave Segal, Billy Senko, and everyone else who goes out of their way to help people aim better and play better. Critic can say what they want but CTE is REAL and WORKS. Most good aiming systems work and are great tools for anyone to use. These guys who put up with a ton of shit for advocating them and teaching them deserve to be in the hall of fame. These guys go out of their way, spending time out of their lives, to advance a principle and methods that are intended ONLY to help people enjoy playing this great game even more.

One of the GREATEST feelings in the world for me right now is making a really good shot and having the spectators appreciate it with their applause. They don't know who I am. They don't know what method I used to aim the shot. They are applauding a well made shot in a pressure situation. They balls don't lie. And when one of those spectators is a pro and you hear some one say to him, who is that guy it's even more gratifying.

So ANY method of playing that allows me to make more shots and more pressure shots is a good thing. Thanks to the all the teachers who have stuck it out and spent time, money and mental energy to teach us how to play better pool.

At it's core this showdown between me and Lou IS about the two philosophies in pool, the all feel approach or the system based approach. It's about two bangers - and have no doubt we are both bangers - who love to play and who each have opposite views of how a person can both enjoy the game and get better at it. Well our views are not entirely opposite. Mine encompass his.

I think that people can enjoy and love pool with a feel based approach only. And I think that trying a system based approach can't hurt and is worth trying. Lou thinks that system based approaches will utterly ruin a person's pool career and actively discourages people from trying them. That's the fundamental difference between us and the one that led to this 10k match. Like it or not I am now the poster boy for using CTE to aim and I intend to do my best to show how it helps a banger like me.

Again thanks to EVERYONE on these and other forums who has had to face and fade the criticism over the years to advance this important method of playing. It's paying off for me personally right now.

Have fun knocking me because while you are doing that I am having fun at the DCC.

.

Who is knocking you ?? when you speak, it is the "truth" but if someone else dares to have an opinion, suddenly the world is nothing but knockers.

Heck, I was darn right polite about it, and even said I'd buy you a beer at DCC... don't look now, that might be me right behind you :)

John,
I like your stories about Lou and your upcoming match as well as your stories of coming to America. It's good for pool and it's good for AZB Main Forum.

I've played both you and Lou and when you first announced the match up I didn't like your chances of beating Lou playing one pocket based upon what I saw ten years ago or so.

With your competitive spirit and dedication to learning more about one pocket, as well as you ability to bet high WITH YOUR OWN MONEY, I believe that you will win, especially if you keep playing like the drum beats are telling me you are.

I don't think you even have to come out the gate swinging. If you put the smallest amount of pressure on Lou, he will most likely implode, thinking about his backers and how he is going to lose their money and thinking about how he gets beat by an CTE Pro 1 man.

OF COURSE he didn't dog it on purpose, I was being sarcastic. Edit. IF Lou were to win the DCC one pocket then I would not play him and humbly add my $3000 stake to his DCC prize money. I am full of heart but I am not entirely stupid.

I just got out of the shower - if you're behind me we have a problem :-)

It's cool, you can knock, I mean it's OBVIOUS to everyone that I am not going to write flowery poetic trip stories when I am getting ready for this match. Everything for me is in context of how it relates to the upcoming match.

Please buy beer - I am SO THIRSTY from talking all day. Freddie bought me one yesterday and it was like a life preserver to a drowning man.

LOL! :D

Is there an animated emoticon out there that shows a miniature MacCauley Culkins doing the Home Alone "Yessssssss!" fist pump thing? If so, methinks this was a perfect opportunity to use it. :thumbup2:

John, just needlin' ya. And yes, wanted to point out your 20K post milestone here on AZB, in case you missed it, and offer some congrats. (Yes, it's a small thing, but not unnoticed.)
