The worst warped cue I've ever seen was a Joss that had the forearm finger-joined to the handle. That was a cue from the nineties.
sure it was Joss? all i've heard is they are all full length cored cues. i know Viking finger joins their cues together but not joss . never heard of Joss from the 90's warping much less from a a-joint they didn't use.The worst warped cue I've ever seen was a Joss that had the forearm finger-joined to the handle. sure wish i'd seen it 'cause all J's from that era i've owned/seen were fully cored. No finger jointed forearms that i know of. still have big doubts it was a Joss cue.Positive it was Joss. We were all surprised because it was in great shape otherwise.
It was a very low end cue for them.
I bought a 4pt player with 2shafts(ivory ferrules) around '80-'81 for the princely sum of 162bux delivered. Wish i still had that bad boy. Oh well.I have 3 Josses I won’t sell…a ‘92 Sneaky Pete, an ‘86 Block Letter, and a first year Joss…’68
When I first met Danny Jane, he’d just watched me skunk a guy in a tournament….he told me he didn’t have a first year Joss in his collection…wondered if I would sell mine….I told him we do a trade…I get a half an hour in his shop with an empty truck…
….he grinned “I got a feeling you really like it.”

Dan started coring all his cues in the late eighties iirc. Except for maybe a sneaky-pete his cues have been cored since then. I sent Dan a msg to be sure on this. Never heard of him finger-joining a forearm together. How do you know all of them were fully cored? Did you take the wrap off of every one? Did you x-ray each of them? I'd love to know how you can look at a wrapped cue and tell the internal construction method.

Good info. The finger joint was in the handle, maybe two or three inches below what would have been the a-joint. There were no rings. Maybe it was a knock-off, but it had the Joss logo.
Would a Lucasi cue be considered a quick release? Somebody I knew had one years ago and I unscrewed it which took aboutI think the quick release refers to an extention that attaches to the butt.
I think he was referring to a butt ext QR. And yes Lucasi used a lot of UniLoc which are a QR-style joint.Would a Lucasi cue be considered a quick release? Somebody I knew had one years ago and I unscrewed it which took about
two turns.
Yeh, this wasn't a butt ext. And "Uniloc" refreshes my memory and that's what he said the joint was. Nice looking cueI think he was referring to a butt ext QR. And yes Lucasi used a lot of UniLoc which are a QR-style joint.
Yeah that is super annoying. Those are designed as perm options. I don't have the room in my basement to play with a 64 inch cue at every angle. I want a quick-release butt extension. Every other cue company makes them. Have no idea why joss cant/won't.Joss has push in and screw in butt ext
