Just got back from a local weekly tournament at shooters in Toronto. This was my first time ever competing in some sort of format, I didn't know anyone there and was kinda hesitant most players were really good compared to me, so I spoke to the guys in charge and got in with $25, first match was against a really good player, tie on 7 for me, he demolished me but I was definitely nervous for some reason, i was probably thenyoungest one there, my second match was another good player but not as good as the first match, tie on 88 for me, after the first match they rated me as a 6 player. Th second match was a fight I tied two games but couldn't finish, mainly safety battles, I missed an easy 3-9 combo, he ended up winning 7-2..

Oh ya also met alex pagulayan for the first time he was playing snooker against another guy, such an aswsum guy and down to earth person.

All in all it was a great experience the guys at shooters are holding it down well, i got to really test my skills and gained alot of knowledge thru 2 matches, i realised i need to buy cue asap cus i was using the house cue and felt off. Il definately be hitting balls for more practice.

Cheers

Sounds like you had a great time. Glad you got to meet Alex. He's a great guy and arguably the best all-around player in the world.

Not too bad for your first tournament. ;)

If you weren't hooked before, you should be now.

Get you a sneaky pete, Pryme.
They are inexpensive and hit good enough to beat a world champion.

Well done ! Keep at it, now that you've broken the ice with the first tournament. You will only learn and improve as a result. Again, well done !

Dave

I have a cue and a case. I need 5 ppl to donate $10 each to help out with the shipping.

Please post a picture and a little bio about yourself and why you love pool. After doing so I will send you a cue and a case. Be well. Number one thing you can do to play pool pool is focus and act emotionless during your match and always congratulate your opponent when he beats or losing to you. Later , Jesse

Sounds like money well spent . Idk any other sport that gets you that close to world class players for so little investment .
Good luck with your game

What do you mean tie on 7. And tie on 88?

it means if i sink the 7 or 8 i can tie the game, so even if my opponent sinks the 9 game is tied. its a handicap.

mel_smog...thanks for telling me about this lol, il see u on wed hopefully.

and thank you guys for the positive response, really encouraging, and to barking for the generous gesture.

cheers

hi guys,

as barking requested, i put up a pic of myself and a little bio since he wants to make sure im legit and not a scam.

I changed my avatar pic, my name is Shariq (shaa-rick) its not a common name and most people cant pronounce it lol. Im 24 and live in Toronto, with my wife Amber and two little daughters.

I have been playing pool for a number of years but never took it serious until few months ago, love the challenge it provides and so much skill to master. I recently started playing in some weekly tournaments at Shooters Sooker Club in Toronto, I had my first win on wed, even though there was a handicap, but got destroyed on my next match, but I am learning and hope to take out more time for the game, and see how far I can go.

Its tough making time with two kids, but it sorta keeps me more focused when I do get some time off, I can really focus and zone in on just playing and learning pool.

I really dont know what else to type lolll...but I am legit. and thank you once again for the help and advice.

awesome! keep playing.

Hey, welcome shariq. tournaments are tough but if you can do more of them, the nervous feeling settles a but and you can play your best game. Hope you're able to get a cue, sounds like you're ready for one!
