lasttwo the crowd is coached and instructed to applaud. If you want pool to become a spectator event the crowd should be able to cheer for who and what they please.
Pool will never be a spectator event as long as the players pay more entry fees than the spectators. With no outside prize money coming in to make things comfortable for the players then the players get priority and the fans have no chance. Even you suggest in your post that the fans don't count and it assumes every spectator knows the game. With old fashion thinking like that how can pool expect millions of people who don't know the game to watch it.
Note in the attached photo of Karen and Line two of the best women players in the world the empty seats.![]()

Ya, whatever. Why do you always post a picture of Karen? She plays great, but she looks like a librarian. You are doing the same thing as posting a picture of everyone's local librarian. What is the point? There is no point.
Anyways, I was making a point that the audience claps at anything. Efren draws the CB back 6 inches, roaring applause. Someone scratches, you hear people shouting, then "ooohs" and applause at the same time. It's like people are saying, "Holy crap! The cueball WENT IN THE HOLE!! Are you sure? Yes, and it's still there. He MAY reach for it and take it out! Really? Oooooooooh *applause*"
Gremlin, are you telling me you've never thought to yourself, "Why in the hell is everyone clapping?" Don't you think that most poolplayers subconciously roll their eyes when they make a simple elementary shot, and suddenly the room erupts with thunderous applause? If I were to make a simple stop shot at a tournament, and suddenly all the spectators start applausing and shouting, saying "Way to go! You did it!" etc, when I haven't even ran out the rack yet, that's just plain dumb.
