Fitness And Pool

you probably overdid the weights and are now super sore. If you keep a regular routine you won't be nearly as sore or in pain the day after as you are if you just go in after a long layoff and try to put up just as much as you were doing before.

Absolutely true. The next day when you aren't sore, your muscles will be that much stronger and have much more stability. It's all part of good health and will keep your stroke smooth and controlled. But lifting weights and heading directly to the pool hall is just asking for trouble. Your muscles need time to heal.

I want to Thanks all the AZers' who respond to this post . Due to health issue I started a light weight full body workout [Mon., Wed., Fri.] for 30 min. I do Cardio [Treadmill] on Tue., Thurs., Sun. I rest on Sat.

True when I started exercising my Body ache and I have more bones cracking, than I knew I have.

But four month later. I don't need a half bottle of Tums, because of all the bending at the pool table. My knee is not in pain for the long standing.

I noticed my energry is back and I'm enjoying the game more.

I do noticed my muscle feel tighten after the workout and I agree on a waiting period before playing pool. Given the muscle a chance to relax.

I mountain bike 4 or 5 times per week. I'm not sure if it helps with my pool game when I get injured though! I had a wreck nearly 3 weeks ago and hurt my ribs. There's still pain. I guess rib injuries take a long time to heal. Between the pain killers and the pain itself, my pool game has taken a bit of a hit!

Only if you want to win, and understand why you lost and move on, otherwise treat it as tho it was just a game and thats what you'll get out of it. You've asked a question with an obvious answer, I wonder why.

i went back to the gym yesterday after about 10 days off and lifted some weights. This morning I feel like I could get beat by a C player. In fact, an APA 5 has got the nuts right now playing me some. Free weights and playing pool mix together like water and oil. bleh

Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) hits you the next day & even more the next especially if you do high intensity workouts. High reps/lower weights is an alternative. Pre-exhaustion exercises provide an alternative which gives you intensity with lower weights.

Xiaoting Pan

In an interview, Xiaoting Pan said that as a teenager, her father made her do a lot of pushups as part of her training. Also, to improve her break, she would break with heavy sandbags tied to her arm.

The interview was on CCTV, you can find a copy on Youtube, but its all in Chinese.

Being a 'bigger' player myself, I can't really talk about how being in bigger body building shape would affect your game. However on the other side of the spectrum, since my return to playing pool in the past 6 months I have been working on my core strength, flexability and overall weight loss. Those 3 factors will definatly improve your game.

I think that Yoga and Pilates would probobly do more to help a players game who is already in good physical condition. Having a better sense of balance may help with your stance, if nothing else giving your existing stance a bit more stability.
