Fitting blank/partial shafts

I bought a blank OB Classic shaft and sent it to the guy who made my cue to have it finished out to match my cue. I get the shaft and the cue wobbles when I roll it on the table. The tip flops around. It isn't drilled straight or it isn't faced off correctly. Is this normal for a partial/blank? Is it not possible to get them drilled perfectly centered and straight?

No, it's not normal - yes it's possible - however, to get a perfect match, you should have the butt of the cue present to match it to. If the facing of the butt is off slightly, the facing of the shaft is just adjusted to compensate. Have you ever tried any other shafts on the butt? if they roll off then that is the problem.

But, if you send both pieces back the cuemaker should correct the problem.

its a screw up.....and most likely the cue maker is going to have to spring for a new blank...............

I would run this thread in ask the cue makers section. see if some one locally can look at the shaft and figure out what the problem for sure really is............

Whoops... somebody didn't do things right.....?

I always send my Cue Butt when I do this, so there is no guess work.

I always get Guido, to do my stuff & it's always a perfect job...

I have not mentioned this the the cue maker yet. I thought I would run it by you guys first. I didn't think it was right but I have never had one before so I thought I would check. I am going to ship the butt and shaft back to him and have him check it.

Way to go Charles, that will probably produce much better results.

Good Luck

Whenever I have a partial made, I send the handle along with it. That's the only way a cue maker can make sure the joint is faced properly and aligned perfectly.

Did he have the handle when he finished the partial? If so, then it was a mistake.
