Fix the Foot ...

A chance to play pool on a 10' non snooker table is a longtime dream of mine , I hope it can happen without a trip to a far away big city .
If I had the room for a 10' table I'd love having one with some fast cloth and lively rails with tight pockets .

I believe players care about games they can identify with because they play them -- n.o. b.o.d.y is playing on 10' tables.

I know from conversations with him that, at it's inception, Greg was hoping to popularize 10' tables with the Big Foot. But that ship has sunk. It's time to turn it into a reef for da fishes.

What happened to the ten footers? There were lots of them when I was young….I played a bit better on them…snooker background.
Well, I used to play in a bar league. One of the teams was way out in the sticks -- like the smell of manure in the air. Their single table was a 10-foot. Maybe the only bar league 10-foot in the country. It didn't help them. ;)

If I were at the venue I'm sure it would be nice to watch the Bigfoot Challenge, because I have a choice of watching anything I like. From a streaming perspective, it is a ripoff. They are charging $70-$80 to watch something that isn't even the tournament.

Bob I never knew you lived in Montana before ha ha sorry poor attempt at humor .
I feel it would be great to play on a 10' table on a regular basis , if I had the room for it darn sure would .

I can take or leave the ten-footer, but the attraction of the Bigfoot for me is the stellar field it produces every year. There is almost no dead money. At least for the first two days of the Derby, the Bigfoot will nearly always produce better matchups than the early rounds of banks. It's true that fans in attendance, this one included, often skip first round matches in the Bigfoot, but by Round 2, at least $4,000 is riding on the outcome of every match, and the fans are more into it.

I feel the Bigfoot vs banks issue has become far less important than in the past. Attendess have always had a choice of what match to watch, but now that purchasing the DCC stream means getting every table, those more interested in bank pool can watch the bank pool match of their choice, whether 10ball is played inside or outside the arena.

The 10' table seems like an attempt to sell the "long shots" aspect of poolers. (apologies to Earl Strickland) Nothing to marvel at there. The table look is stark so the patterns present no challenges either. They miss more maybe - woot...

Curious if the Bigfoot or similar didn’t exist would you skip the first 2 days of the derby?

To offer a different perspective, perhaps it’s not about all of YOU, what you like, what you want. For example, the OP speaks of how he feels it would be better to deep 6 the Bigfoot because he would rather watch more banks and others have chimed in with their reasons.

While many consider the Derby to be about something for them to watch, it is actually a tournament for the PLAYERS. Fortunately, one that is run by someone else, anyone else other than MR. It is also an avenue for the players to play multiple disciplines and the Bigfoot adds to that. While many of you may not like it, it is a favorite of the actual players themselves. It has produced some of the most amazing matchups and matches in the Derby for many years. I consider it a treasure.

I don't believe this to be true. Yes, there might be four or five players who would call the Bigfoot their favorite of the four events, but the Derby takes place in the heart of bank pool country, and there are probably 200 players for whom bank pool is their favorite event.
