Fixed up another Gold Crown 2

That's because the facing material used had dried out and turned cookie hard. Pinch the point of the cushions and you'll see what I mean. When pinching the point of the cushions, the facing shouldn't feel to much harder than the cushion rubber, if it is, it's way to hard and should be replaced with neoprene facings, as they won't turn hard as wood and crumble. If neoprene facing 3/16" thick are used, the cloth won't cut through in the corner pockets as well:D

Glen

Thanks, I will try that next time I'm there and let the manager know.

No, in all my years as a technician, I've never heard of getting "less" english on tightly stretched cloth:confused: But I have seen a difference in english from one pool room to another, because if different types of cloth used, different balls, dirty tables, worn out cloth...in other words, look for the differences between the rooms to make the determination of different effects of "english". As far as "over stretching" cloth, I've never see it:D

Glen

I bet he was referring to the Slide that you get on a new cloth before the english takes.
You certainly know your trade and do some amazing work. How much $$$ does work like that run?

Seems like it don't matter what I charge, as it don't discourage anyone:D but I feel OK at charging $500 labor, as it's very tedious work. :)

On my first cup of coffee this morning...so far:D after about the 4th or 5th cup, I'll be awake enough to start thinking about a shower and getting dressed, then I'll be heading over to your house to line out the table for you Fatboy, OH and by the way, if you need that Lamborghini in the garage warmed up a little...I can drive it around the block for you...a few hundred times, should be warmed up by then:D besides that, I know how your back is hurting you and all, so I wouldn't want to see you get hurt more climbing in and out of that LOW to the ground play toy:D :D :D

Glen

PS. Is the steering wheel removable in that car, I mean...how's someone suppose to get out of it sporting wood the size of a redwood tree if the steering wheel is in the way?:D :D :D

Do you guys know what one of the main differences is between Seattle women VS Las Vegas women?

Answer: Seattle women may wear fake jewelry, but they have real orgasms:D

Do you guys know why most women in Alaska don't play Frisbee?

Answer: Because it hurts their teeth when they catch it:D

In this picture, you can see what I mean be down angle.
er... no. Any clarification for a stupid Russian? Better with pictures explained, like you did with 51 and 53 degrees difference.

I appreciate you remembered your promise to clarify "141 and 12" thing in the previous thread showing your work, so keep it coming. 141 (51) is clear but 12 is not yet for me.
Sorry, and thank you for sharing!

Once again, if using a chop-saw to match this settings, the down angle would be called the bevel, the angle cut would be called the miter. So, taking the bottom flat side of the rail, that would be 0 degrees, then an angle straight up from there would be 90 degrees, crossing over the 90 degrees would be creating a down back-wards bevel. If you go 12 degrees past straight up and down it would be 102 degrees, if you went all the way over to a back-wards 45 degree bevel it would be considered to be a down angle of 135 degrees. Facings that stand up at 90 degrees causes the object balls to climb up the facings with forward force, which causes the balls to jump out of the pockets. Facings at a 135 degree bevel cause the balls to get pinched between the facing and the slate, kind of like a catchers mitt playing baseball, giving you a dead pocket facing. Down angles of 102(12 degrees) gives the best rebound and deflection of balls coming into contact with the facings before being pocketed. Diamond uses these same angles on their pool tables, which is why I don't have to change anything if tightening the pockets on a Diamond table:D I can make just about any table play like a Diamond, but that don't make it a Diamond table. Diamond has gone to great lengths to perfect their tables in such a way that can't be compared to any other tables on the market. Even when working on Brunswick Gold Crowns, the mechanic still has to make sure the corner pocket rails line up with the corner pocket castings, the side pockets line up with the side pocket castings. All of the extra that has to be taken into consideration when working on a Gold Crown, is in the hands of the mechanic working on them, which is hard for some to keep in mind, whereas with a Diamond table, they don't have to worry about lining up anything, it's already done, along with the correct pocket angles to insure the table plays right:D

and you are asking? It does for sure! I'm going to take a day off trying to understand it from the first letter to the last :D REP to you Glen

Glen, I always enjoy reading your posts. I've learned a lot about how a table should be set up. Please keep on posting with a lot of photos. Oops, almost forgot to say thanks.

Glen, you are simply the best there is, period.

I only hope that when I finally do get a table, that you'll be available to do it.

awesome work!

Love your work Glen, and I enjoyed chatting with you recently. I'll call you when my GC 1 is ready for install!
Karl

your the best

You do the best work I have ever seen on these Gold crown tables.

Do you have a method or trick you could share on how to get the rubber drop pockets to fit nicely? Mine just don't look right they just are not flush against the sides.
