i hear you guys talk about CA to finish cues sometimes. I would assume you are not talking about super glue right, or the gel control type, right? i want to fix some minor chips in the finish of one of my cues. what is a good brand to use?

not a name brand cue, just looking to practice is all.
thanks

I use the tiger brand CA and it works good for me. In sure the others can tell you an easier to purchase that works well. Super glue is CA.

would the regular loctite super glue work? not the gel type i use for tips....

That's what I use. I usually wet sand the area with 2000 to knock down edges of chip. If you do not then you will see the edges after super glue. Once the edges are blended then I use a tooth pick and put a small amount of super glue on the tooth pick and spread into the chipped area. I might do this a couple of times to fill in the area. Let dry between coats. Once it has dried then take the 2000 wet paper or 2500 wet paper and smooth the area and then polish.

I use Titebond Instabond from Woodcrafters and take a razor blade(square) and cut out any part that has lifted, light scratch, baby oil, (or others if needed for darkening) few coats of thin CA, sand with baby oil, polish

after wet sanding, what are you guys using to buff? is there something i can buy that is held in my hand to buff while on the lathe?

You can use almost any glaze or polish that you would use on a car finish. I usually just put light cut polish on a rag and then spin and polish. I prefer to use buffing wheel as you can work on individual spots or scratches easier.

hmmm, never thought about using something like that. although once you put it on here the commen since part of it hit me. Thanks will have to go about it that way until i can get a bench buffer.
