Flat faced half joint??????

a cue was described like this
Joint is solid flat faced ivory (half joint) with a 3/8-10 pin and fine silver ringwork on a black collar...
what does that mean???

I have used this term myself to describe a few cues I have made, now I may be wrong with my application of the term.

This is what I call an Ivory half joint, if I had built the cue without the Ivory as part of the shaft collar I would have called it an Ivory Joint.

IMHO - it is just a way of refering to an ivory joint that is not piloted,
and is 1/2 half an inch long - most joint collars are 1 inch in length.

This was exactly the joint legendary cuemaker, Harvey Martin, used
on his cues - he also "invented" the 3/8 - 10 joint pin.
