Flipping coins to determine who breaks

I cant lag so I gotta flip.

When someflips I make them hit the lite with the coin, to make it random.

I have seen guys who can control the coin-one the best I have seen (I wont ever say who it is, but he posts here some), he gets what he calls about 8 or 9/10 times right with a quarter, it is amazing. he will say "you want heads or tails?" and sure enough he flips the quarter up about 8" to a foot and it lands on what you asked for 8 or 9 times out of 10 times. Its not a trick coin he is just good, he has trick coins(weighted and same on both sides) but like he said "they are for beginners", how strong is that?? The flip looks good too not some wobbling thing, He wouldnt give up how he does it,,,,,yet....when(or if) he does I will really be looking for "Flip it" action. :D

I will not permit someone to flip a coin, catch it and hold it on thier wrist.

Why? Do you think they have some kind of super human eyesight that can see what side the coin was on when they caught it?

Quarters and smaller on 860 or thicker is harmless.

Silver dollars on Granito Billiard cloth is a huge problem, but I havent ever seen billiard players flip for it.

Thanks Mike for the pic I awalys appericate when you post them, Please let me take you to dinner again this year at the Derby.

Fatboy, I know they say that as you get older your mind is the first to go, but I do not remember meeting you, going to the Derby, or you buying me dinner. I think you have me confused with my brother Bill Porter. We both like to post pics from our collection.

Pertaining to the gentleman controlling a flipping coin, I am impressed. He must have practiced controlling the number of rotations the coin makes or something like that, for some time.

theres a local douche bag around here that flips with a silver dollar every time. its not even a flip really, more of a backhanded toss in the air . . . it makes the most piercing thud on the felt that can be heard from anywhere in the pool room. makes me cringe every time

Sounds like a job for the Mythbusters.........or at least someone with a camera with a fantastic zoom lens and is bored.

your right i am confused.:o

I have a hard time believing that a typical flipped coin would damage cloth. I'm calling BS on this one.

Let's call Mythbusters like Fuji suggested.

I am sure that you didn?t take me seriously. Actually I was also pointing the finger at myself. I turned 50 almost 3 years ago and at times it is frightening what I forget. It seems that whenever I do happen to remember, it usually is too late, Murphy?s Law??

I like the attachment, do you know if they have a snooker table?

Here is a link to one of our local tourist attractions. Come on up and swim with the bears and we will play some snooker. Take a look at some of the pictures on the sight, they are impressive. In a small town, you can never do too much promoting, in hopes of boosting the economy.

when I have to play someone in a tournament who I know does not do
a 'legal' flip (by resting the coin on top of the thumb and forefinger, and flip the coin at least 1 foot high in the air, and let it come to rest on the bed of the table), I first explain to them their flip must be a legal one, and that if they don't flip legally or let me flip, that we will lag for break.

Some guys try to pull all kinds of things.

A legal flip, let me look up the rules on a legal flip,  :sorry:

Actually, flipping most coins is not a 50-50 proposition. If you slice a coin (penny, nickel, dime, quarter) through the dead center of the edge, the "heads" side will weigh more than the "tails" side, causing the heavier side to land down more often. I always call "tails".
