If you have specific requirements (colors, materials, etc,) make sure that he writes them down. Otherwise, when he gets it wrong, he will blame you . . . even if you had written it down and sent it to him via e-mail following a face-to-face discussion with him, and he will not make it right for you. However, he WILL offer to fight you. He will never again get another dollar of my money.
Good luck.

She should be done this coming weekend... tell me this isn't one sweet piece of wood?!?!?!

That is seriously stunning work! I know it's not a given but I just really appreciate it when cue makers updates the client with step by step pictures. It really makes the all custom process more bespoke and personal.
Congrats!

Thanks for sharing. Man, that is one gorgeous cue! Just curious, knowing that he may be working on other cues simultaneously, what is his projected build time for your cue?

IMO - "Name and Shame" doesn't belong in this thread.

I ordered the cue in late Sept. Knowing that he had 5 a head of me that he needed to finish first. He recently told me it will be complete this weekend, so I would say it was actually about 3 weeks of build time.

I really don't know what el;se he is working on at the moment, bacuse I haven't been to his shop recently. But it is cool to see his projects at various stages of completion while you are there.

Cool to see how the sausage is made.

Thanks, Darrin has been great to work with. something tells me this will not be the last commission he acquires from me!

The man is really passionate about what he does!

Looks like my delivery date is tomorrow. And from the sound of it Darrin will be scaling back for a while. If you know someone looking for an amazing experience in having a TRUE custom made, tell them to act fast.

The man is an artist.

I'll post final photos tomorrow.

Rich

Just had a Willie Hoppe refinished by Darren... damn fine work, and not just my opinion but every pool guy that has inspected it so far.......

Took delivery yesterday, and it is as sweet to use as it is to look at. You'll just have to take my word for that, but anyone with a Hills Cue can attest to that fact.
