Very hard to explain. I am the King of closet Queens.
Here's the story... I bought a few really nice cases...however did not feel like taking them into a pool room so I would use a less expensive case.
But here's a good one. I bought a nice leather jacket and never wore it. Stored it in a plastic bag. Went to wear it one day and it was dried out and cracked...so never got a chance to enjoy it. So the moral of the story is...buy something nice and use it cause it'll go bad regardless. That being the case I just got a JB 4/8 oil tan leather. Right now it's leaning again the wall near my table...and most likely will stay there until it dries out and cracks.
This has been a Real Story from a Real Case owner... I am not an actor.

EDIT... none of mine are for sale. I think i'll keep them forever and not use any.

a case serves two primary functions: storage and transport/every day use, with most of the wear and tear coming on the transport end.

Like how you have 3 super nice exotic cases except you don't want them stolen or covered in nacho cheese so you never take them out anywhere.

Storing versus carrying and transporting cues for playing...as in scuffs, scrapes, signs of wear, and chalk stains.

Usually cases used only for storage show little or no visible wear or chalk staining.

In addition, you can assume that zippers, snaps, straps, stitches, rivets, and glue joints on cases used for storage have been subjected to little or no stress.

I have a case that took a beating after falling off the roof of the vehicle while going 40 mph. Made me sick to see it in the street, but it protected the cues. The outside looks rough.

Was going to throw it away, before asking a friend who owns many cues if he would be interested in it. He said yes, as he has several that are not in a case.

This would now be an example of a case used just for storage.

Some people use their cases to actually take cues back and forth from pool halls, like my 20 year old Porper. And my Porper is kind of beat up and ready for replacement, unlike a couple of other cases which are really just used for storage.

Hope that helps clear it up.

Cute, but no it has not been used "just" for storage. You could say it is currently being used for storage.;)
