Keith has recently acquired a custom-made cue stick that he really likes, and after practicing with it for several weeks, he wants to sell his Bobby Hunter cue stick. Bobby Hunter is a legendary cue-maker of high-quality sticks and enjoys a sterling reputation in the cue-making community.

This is a beautiful detail-oriented hand-crafted stick which has ebony, cocobolo, and ivory in the butt design. It comes with two shafts with ivory ferrules and medium Moori tips, and both are in excellent playing condition, ready for action. It weighs about 20 to 20-1/2 ounces and has good forward balance. The stick has been taught nothing but good habits, and it has defeated quite a few world-beaters while it has been in Keith's possession. ;)

The value of the cue is worth approximately $2,000, but I will gladly entertain any and all serious bids. It is my intention to list it on eBay, unless I receive an offer beforehand.

If interested, please e-mail me. All e-mails pertaining to this post will receive a prompt response. :)

I have four high-resolution pictures which are available upon request. However, for purposes of this forum setting, I have reduced the pixels. Here's Picture No. 1! Thanks for looking! :D

Here is Picture No. 2, which shows a little bit of the detail in the butt design with the ebony, cocobolo, and ivory inlays.

Last, but not least, here is Picture No. 4 which shows a close-up of the joint. The measurement is three-eighths!

Again, thanks for looking!

LOL, VApoolplayer. For the other readers of this post, this is an inside joke which recently happened at the Planet Pool 9-Ball Tour.

Keith was examining a brand-new cue stick of a fellow pool player, and unbeknownst to him, when he called the brand-new cue stick a "piece of balsa wood," the cue-maker who actually made the stick was standing there and heard the comment. Very embarassing! :o

The Bobby Hunter cue stick is by no means "a piece of balsa wood," as it has been the stick Keith has played with for over 2 years. He is selling it to help pay expenses for his brother who is ill.

sorry, i forgot to note that it was an inside joke. it is by NO means a piece of balsa wood. i've hit a few balls with it and it hits a TON.

jam, if you do put it on ebay, maybe you should put together a certificate of authenticity and maybe have keith sign the cue, i'm sure it would catch a fair price to a collector or a die hard keith fan.

thanks

A letter that explains the history of the cue and is signed by Keith is a good idea. I would not sign the cue. The sig would be on top of the clear coat and not protected in the event the cue needed refinishing or repair.

These are some very great ideas, VApoolplayer and Murray Tucker! :)

I will include a letter of authenticity as well as a personalized autographed 8-1/2-by-11 photo of Keith in action with the Bobby Hunter cue stick.

This is a real weapon of mass destruction, ready, willing, and able to perform, looking for a good home! ;)

If I was not in the process of finding someone to make me a custom cue, I would probably buy it. Hate to hear he is having to sell it. I know Keith likes a forward balanced cue like myself...would probably be a great playing cue.

Good luck with it JAM!

Very nice looking cue.

2 questions if you dont mind... Who is the maker of Keith's new cue?
and what was the reaction of the cuemaker to the balsa wood comment?

Thanks JAM, from another member that appreciates your tournament updates and anecdotes.

I agree, I don't like the idea of autographed cues. It would kill the value, if it were signed (by someone other than Bobby, that is). I wouldn't mind having one signed by Murray though ;)

Currently, Keith is shooting with a WilleeCue which was customized to his liking. It's quite beautiful, and he REALLY likes the way it hits. He's been practicing with it for quite a while, but continued to shoot with the Bobby Hunter cue until he got used to the "feels." Keith has a thing about proper balance on the stick and the "feels," as he grips the cue long and short, depending on the shot. He also has a customized Jensen cue, which shoots pretty sporty, too, and he practices with the Jensen as well. Both sticks are well made and quite attractive, and according to Keith, they have that infamous "hit" that he's looking for.

It's hard for a player to shoot with a brand-new cue and feel comfortable with it from the get-go. It takes quite a while to get used to (IMO).

As far as the reaction of the cuemaker to Keith's balsa wood comment, I thank the good Lord they were not offended one bit, but I was cringing and red with embarassment. Keith was talking to the player who owned the stick and was just busting his chops. :p

Umm JAM,
Is that the cue that when Keith tightens it up "almost nobody can break it apart"? ;) :D
Keith says Willeecue's stick and the Jensen have a similar feel to his old cue?
Hmmm think I'll go back and read through some of Willeecues posts, may be a new up and coming cuemaker.
