How was your experience with the Lasik procedure or any other eye corrective surgery? Also, how did it affect your play and to what extent?

my cousin had it and he plays pool and has not ill effected him but he said eye strain was a problem after awhile .

Bottom line, one eye is better five years down the road and one eye is worse.

At first, I loved it. Now with one bad eye, I think it makes no difference. If I'm in stroke, I can play good. If not, I suck.

Sometimes, when I'm tired and driving at night, I might see some halos looking at oncoming headlights. Aside from that, I have had no complaint.

man... halos, eye strain, vision loss... i might stick with my grandma vision for a little while longer. i was hoping you guys were going to come up here and tell me you were instantly 2 balls better... oh well. i guess i'll just try to improve my game the old fashioned way... practice 
LIsten carefully. Many people who complain about those issues did not have the latest procedures. In the end, if you're going to do LASIK for your pool game as a primary reason, you're doing it for the wrong reason. Do it for a better quality of life.

I wore glasses at first, then contacts. I couldn't wear contacts anymore because they would irritate my eyes. So, I went back to glasses, but started suffering from headaches and sucken nose bridge syndrome. So, I took the leap for eye surgery. I asked friends about their experience/success with eye surgery, and decided to get my eyes done by the same doctor as they did.
I had my eyes done over 3 years ago. I have better than 20/20 vision, and have had zero problems with my eyes. I look at a computer for about 50% of each work day...which is not good for your eyes, but I haven't had any problems with eye strain, vision deterioration, or halos during night time driving.
I suggest doing research on the different techniques used, and the success rates of the eye doctors you might choose.
Or you could wait until the medical industry offers cloned eyes as an option for vision correction.

It was the best money I ever spent, I was in bifocals, I had distant corrected rather than go for the contact in one eye route. I now buy reading glasses at walgreens for 10.00 vs, 300 for bifocals . The difference in my pool game was unimaginable to say the least. I had Steven Dell do mine, he did Tigers and if your brother owns Dell computers you are not in it for the money. so do it but pick a good doctor , not a cheap one you only get one set of eyes !!!!!!
I wore glasses for 47 years. Playing pool, golf, driving,etc. is all better because of lasik. Shop around for the best quality and price. I had my eyes done by a doctor who had done as many as Steven Dell with the same technology for about 1/4 less money. I would do it again in a heart beat.branpureza said:

The technology is very good now, and many of the old complications (halos, dry eyes, etc.) are pretty rare. Just remember, you get what you pay for. Don't go discount shopping. Look for the best in your area that you can afford. Also, be aware of the fact that, if you are 40 or older, you may very likely need reading glasses following LASIK. Lastly, keep in mind that it is EYE SURGERY. My advice to my friends is not to get it unless you really HATE wearing glasses and contacts.
I've been wanting the shit out of Lasik surgery for a while now but I'm afraid all the doctors in my neck of the woods will mess it up ( most of them have pretty bad track records )

Best money I ever spent on anything, period. Had mine done 2 years ago now and was 20/20 in both eyes and crystal clear after 8 hours and ended up with 20/15 in both(which I still have). It was a big adjustment to make though after having worn glasses for almost my entire life, my pool game had a bunch of routines that I'd developed around glasses and breaking them was a bit of work. Once I broke the old habits my game is far better than I had hoped, love every bit of the new eyes.
I had mine done 8 years ago and I have loved every minute of it and would do again in a heartbeat. The whole process took less than 15 minutes for both eyes once the doctor put in the numbing eye drops. As soon as he let me sit up, I could read the eye chart. Two days post-op I was reading the 20/10 line on the eye chart. I am now a solid 20/15. I had mine done by Dr. Katzen in Boynton Beach, Florida. He did John Walsh from America's Most Wanted. I was so blind without my glasses (20/250), I couldn't tell gender from 20 feet without them. Do your research and find a qualified surgeon in your area and go for it. You only live this life once.

im going to have it done in the next couple years, im about to hit 41 and my eyes have had some changes this year (different precrip and now im having to wear reading glasses)....im going to consult with a doc soon but i want to let my eyes finish changing so down the road i dont have to have it redone
