In order to assist you, I have provided this alphabatized list to describe how ______ed up Team USA played in the 2016 Mosconi Cup this year. Please pick out your favorite descriptor, and don't forget to mix and match...they all work to paint the tapestry of sh$t that we have beheld this year.

I'm Canadian and I get frustrated unbelievable just cant seem to beat these guys f--k.

8 game win streak coming tomorrow.

The bookies here are offering odds of up to 70 to 1 if you would like to bet on the Americans. If you extrapolate the odds from the matches so far -- always a risky proposition -- the correct odds would be more like 50000 to 1. On the other hand, if you want to bet on the Euros, put up a thousand to win a dollar.

I'm not at a loss for words. Pitiful pretty well sums up the performance of Team USA.

Bookies are stealing at 70:1

I'd need 1000:1 to consider a $5 bet

Keeping it simple...I like it. Wait, no, I think I'm going to weep silently into my pillow on this cold winter night...

I was never a fan of this format. Short races to 5 don't settle anything. Idiots hooting and hollering while your trying to play against a shot clock. All of the Europeans are fantastic players don't get me wrong, but this format straight up stinks. Not making excuses for poor play. The Europeans are playing in the same environment, although the idiots are hooting and hollering in their favor. I don't like the format any better when it is in las vegas and the idiots are hooting and hollering for USA, either. This is set up to be the biggest event in pool and yet the format makes the level of pool subpar. There have been some great shots and great runs, however there have been many subpar performances on both sides as well.

I understand the concept of short races and an involved crowd making it seem more exciting to the uninitiated, but to the avid player and fan it is a bunch of crap, a dog and pony show. This is not how professional pool is ever played except for four days in December. This would be like the superbowl being played as flag football. Everybody follows the points standings and discusses the possible teams' makeup all year long to be rewarded with this lousy product. I know there are probably a lot of people who completely disagree with me, but my opinion will not change as long as the format stays this way. Watching tournament pool as it is normally played just isn't that exciting to the masses.

Everything I wrote above would be exactly the same if the USA was up 10-3.

For some reason I keep thinking of a particular phrase...

It's like a nightmare, isn't it? Just keeps getting worse and worse!

erhino41...While I would tend to agree with you on short formats, I also know that even a coin flip over the long haul should be at least 50/50. However, since 2013 to present USA has lost a by a combined score of 33-14.

And I'm afraid that score will look even worse after this event. So, I can't attribute the lopsided score to format.

Stop it about the short format....pick one player other than shane you would back with your own $10k to play a race to 9/15/20 against any of the european players (let alone those they did not choose Karl Boyes, Ralf Souquet, Thorsten Hohmann, Mika Immonen, Nick Van Der Berg, Chris Meiling, honestly if they put in Allison Fisher, and these players would still beat the present US team).

Let's be honest, US is just what Europe was to the US in the 90s.

I was not completely attributing the lopsided score to format. You are correct that it should even out in the end if all else is equal. I was simply stating my distaste for this format. A short race favors the player that can gather momentum the fastest and with alternate break format, makes the least mistakes. That is what is intended to make this event exciting to the initiated as well as the uninitiated viewers alike. I get the entertainment value from a casual viewers point of view, but I am not a casual viewer.

The crowd in Europe makes it quite easy for the American players to never really get settled at the table and they also provide a means for the European players to gather momentum quite easily. It is far easier to shoot when someone is rooting you on rather than goading you into a mistake. I made a comment that I don't like it when idiots are hooting and hollering when the tournament is held in Vegas, and I don't, however the crowd is far, far more respectful in the US. What happens in the European venue is plain old sharking and is not a good look in my opinion. Go to youtube and watch last years event. The crowd is very respectful when Europe is at the table.

Now that only covers the years they are away. As for the lack of performance on our soil, that just comes down to Europe having the edge in talent. I don't think they have the best player, as I would take Shane over any of them, however they are much deeper. They could make a second team of five that would stand a chance of winning. When you combine the edge in talent with a tremendous home field advantage, you get what we have here, a total crap fest.

So this is on topic, my word is Distaste. Not for the Americans, but for the format.
