I heard a rumor that Boston Billiards was opening on Main Street in the South End. Anyone have any details? I know that after Silver Cue closed someone approached the licensing committee about reopening but that faded. Wondering if it was the same guy.

Would love it if that is true.

Are you asking if the same guy that ran Silver Cue is re opening or if the guy that runs Boston Billiards in Nashua is considering re opening it?

I did not hear anything about it, but that could be potentially great. I am not too crazy about the way Boston Billiards does things, but at least it would be a room.

Please post if you hear more, and I will do the same.

Boston Billiards

Hey,
I'm the guy that tried to reopen the Silver Cue...but the landlord basically backed out...for reasons nobody has ever really understood.
I'm from Woburn and I haven't heard anything about Boston Billiards going in. Not only that but the town gave me some flack when I went for the license (though they did give it to me).
I know for a fact that Dave and Busters is trying to open up in Burlington right off the highway next to Barnes and Nobles, where the old Dodge Dealership used to be. So that would be nice. I also know the Burlington planning board has been keeping them in meetings for the past 6 months and is making things kind of difficult for them.
I hope D&B DOES go in, there's nowhere to play around here since Silver Cue closed.
If you want a place to play in Woburn you can try to get into the Moose or the Towanda Clubs. I know I've tried, but I don't know anybody who goes down there so they won't let me lol...major bummer.

Boston Billiards sucks anyway, Silver Cue was better.
Thanks,
Steve

Steve- Yup- that's it! When they told me Boston Billiards I just assumed it was that Boston Billiards. Oh well, the old thing about "assuming" strikes again.

I've belonged to the Towanda Club since 1971. I would love to play with someone that actually understands that pool has a little nuance. Not just 8 ball. Some of the guys do actually bet high there....they will actually play a game for A BEER! I'm there Thursday nights playing in an APA league. (though this thurs I will be in Malden). I would be happy to meet you there some day and you can get an application to join. Towanda has two ae schmidt tables, simmonis 860 and cenntenial balls. APA Mon & Thurs. In-house leagues Wed and Sunday morning.

Steve,

As you know, the loss of Country Club was substantial in the North Boston area. As good as league play is for keeping people interested in the sport and for supporting owners of pool halls, the few remaining open halls are crowding out those of us who play pick up games. We hope you keep up the effort to open another place for us to play.
