You mean you could not even come back to just read posts..? If not, that means they have some type of software that blocks your ISP number..? That is tuff not even being able to come back & read posts.

That is correct...it was totally blocked other than for the home front page of AZ. Something else I've just found out...either they have someone personally monitoring all posts and PM's, or they also have some sort of software to automatically turn the word F.....U....C....K.... into a bunch of asterisks immediately so that it isn't printed out in the message!! How's that for Big Brother watching??!! (Let's see if it does it in this post or whether my periods in-between throw it off)

Thanks DM.. Wow that is some news! I always thought a Banned person could at least come back & read posts. Hmmm.. this is some food for thought. Thanks for the input!

I think you hit it right on the head DM...Oh, and DM, you discovered what I did after about 500 posts, there is a life outside of AZ and living it aint so bad.

Maybe this is the wrong time to bring this up, but I have taken a little heat from my counterpart for spending an excessive amount time on the forums that I could be using to be more productive in other areas. And I will admit to minimizing an AzBilliards window when I hear his footsteps approaching to avoid an unpleasant colloquy. :p

A day without AzBilliards for me is like a day without sunshine.

I'm also trying to decide whether to say bye-bye forever and just occasionally lurk or to continue posting. If I do post, I'll probably be a bad boy in the eyes of some. Not necessarily out of disrespect of others and their views, but just to liven things up and keep people on their toes so they don't fall asleep. (OK, OK...I lied....I'm gonna pop them because of their dumb ass views too! What can I say....) You probably thought I lost my marbles there for a second, huh? :D

i'd vote for the lurking........as you said, the forums will suck you dry. no matter how much good info you give out, how much you try to help people, you still have the same people on here, who have the same problems, same complaints, and will never get any better at the game.

i used to post on here several times a day, gave my best effort to give out helpful info, and after a while it got old when you could see that most were not making use of it, so i just started to give people a little of the "needle"........that didn't work either.

so, i'll just continue to lurk on her, make a few posts, and just concentrate on my own game along with helping those who really want help.

oh, and there was never any doubt in my mind DM........you never had any marbles to begin with.......i always knew you were a nutless wonder..... :D

DM was given a Time Out, or Temporary Suspension, NOT BANNED.. When I think Banned, I think being Banned is like forever, not just a week, or ?

This forum is what we make it. JAM, I love reading your post and all the pictures. I have made a lot of personal friends here. It's not just a bunch of people beating on their keyboard to me. John, I chose to change because I don't like carrying around a lot of negative baggage with me. What you get from me comes from the heart. Sometimes ya just gotta get in there and do some house cleaning. I am glad to see Drivemaker back and posting. I hope Fred will reconsider his choice and come back. Where else ya gonna meet such a deverse group of pool people. Blackjack, Fred, Jennie and Keith, Blud, and the cue guys showing their stuff. RandyG, Cueman, Mike Web, and many , many more. There is a wealth of knowledge here available to us all free of charge. WOW folks, ponderous. The good far out weighs the bad here. Hell, a flame now and then is to be expected. Big deal, who want's to cast the first stone?
I love ya, keep it real, and smile :D .
Purdman

I like this forum, and have found many informative people here from all walks
of Pool. Some of the information I get here, I consider to be invaluable. Sometimes I can't wait to get on here, and see what is going on, but sometimes, when the flame wars take over, I find my interest waning, and look elsewhere. It's okay to speak from the heart, but not everyone has a
'good' heart like we would all like to believe, and their motives are different
than yours. I think we all need to keep an age old saying in mind when posting, "Are you part of the solution or the problem?". Why is it okay for
an individual to give degrading profane answers all the time, but if someone
else does, they are crucified, and rightly so. What is good for the goose
is good for the gander, no matter how cute you are, or even if you think
the person didn't 'really' mean it that way. Yes, they did, and within all
comedy is a point of seriousness. No one is the 'Big Daddy' on here, but
Mike, and rightly so, it is his responsibility, not some individual poster.

and so, I ask again, "Are you part of the problem or solution".
Are you being constructive or destructive? Anyone that has ever
befriended a destructive personality type before will know how they
can suck you in, bringing chaos and problems to your life.

That's funny cuz my wife comes in and says, "Hey, I hope you stay on here all day again, but can you give me the credit card first?" Maybe I should check my balance, eh? I thought this site was supposed to be free? :D

The site is free but marriage never is!

Someone sent me this. Short fairytale. A guy asks a girl to marry him and she says "No". He lived happily ever after hunting, fishing, playing pool whenever he wanted. I thought this was pretty funny, however, I still wouldn't trade my thirty years with my wife for nothing.

sometimes taking a step back really really helps. Someone said something political once that got me to the core, and I was flaming mad. I said so, but I was too busy at work to explain myself or to back up my opinion. By the time the weekend rolled around, I had all of my background gathered, but the thread had changed course and died and I just left it alone.

Thank goodness for work and for having to wait a few days- I would have said a lot of things that made people mad, and vice versa. And for what? No one would have changed anyone's minds. We would have just insulted each other's beliefs and hurt each other's feelings. As with pool, posting requires breathing. :)

Too bad because I think you would have said just what I wanted to hear. Hope I'm not wrong about that. I've always agreed with you before especially when you said nice things about me, ha ha.

I do not know as I was not looking under you name. to me BANNED is forever.

"Time out", "Suspended" is like you got to do 30 days in Pink Underwear @ Sheriff Joes Hotel/Tent City for a Minor Crime, or Traffic Ticket.........

I've been visiting this forum for about a year and have seen firsthand how quickly posts can escalate to a really nasty level. I accept my part of the blame for my involvement in those flame wars, and I have to say I don't think it does anyone much good to have that negative energy around here. So I would like to take this opportunity to wipe the slate clean with Drivermaker. I'm being serious here. Whatta ya say Driver? In fact, I'll take a pledge right here- If I don't have something positive to add to a thread, I won't post anything.

Peace

:)

Well I guess we will never be hearing from you again???? .......(JK) :D :D

Actually....posting positive should be common sense......Even if you have an alternative view....There is more than one way to do everything in life...Including making a ball, or running a rack...

Just because you have a different view, does not mean you need to bash the other persons view......(I never could understand that)

There are some simple terms that if added to a post, changes its whole tone....

Lines like:

What I would do..
In my opinion.
Another way to.
Here is what works for me.
Have you tried..
That is interesting....but

I guess there should be a list with simple phrases like this for the negative challenged...

Reading these posts, you can usually re-word one or two lines, or add a phrase and the thread goes from a bash to just an alternative solution that perhaps the person has not tried, or just someone who likes apples instead of oranges...

I don't always take the time to spell / grammar check..I type on the fly...but I do take the time to read what I am actually typing to attempt to avoid bashing someone....

What really amazes me is that it seems like the only response I get from any post usually seems to be negative...I even changed the nick I post under just because I thought that perhaps people were not getting the play on words humor in my old nick...I thought perhaps that it was putting people in the wrong frame of mind...So I changed it....

I have narrowed it down to a few things....Either I have No Clue what I am talking about....Am a completely boring poster ....or people just seem to want to only get involved in useless negative threads.......

Perhaps someone will start another of the never ending polls:

Why do you come on this board???

To read about pool and possibly improve
To read the flame wars and or stir the pot.
To get in an argument with someone you have never even met.
To attempt to tarnish someone else's reputation
To attempt to play second hand lawyer and try and create a law suit.

OK...I am done now.... :D

Look, Crazy Man, wtf are you talking about? The forum admin has 2 options re: account restriction: all, or none. You can call either whatever you want.
