Forum Etiquette Question

Your comment has nothing to do with what the OP asked. He wants to call someone a thief if in his opinion the price is more then he wants to pay. Or insult the cue is he happens to not like the way it looks. He said nothing about outing a scammer. He is just looking for support for him to be an AH, not do a public service.

i understood what he wanted, perhaps my post wasn't very clear. I see people overpricing a cue as a scammer, it is no different than misrepresentation and done to take advantage of a novice or uninformed buyer. happens on ebay all the time.

i think there's a moral line and i'm pretty sure most of us know where that lies, and i'll bet it's pretty close to the same place for most good AZers. i think people have the right to say what they want, the community will protect their own if it's just or unjustly said.

A seller can ask what ever they want or an item. The open market will decide what something is worth. It is not really any of your business, you are not going to buy it so what to you care what someone else does.

you have nothing to do with this thread, you have not bought or sold one thing on this site in 8 years.:p

But you don't understand....this guy has a cue fetish. It's a special case. He stated two examples of guys selling him bogus products, whether it be over-pricing an item or over exaggerating its beauty. It would piss me off too. I think a guy that loves cues as much as he does has the right to express his emotions freely.

If you allow people to debate the price, quality, or perceived sincerity of the seller in the For Sale threads, they will all go to hell in short order, and no one will be able to utilize that Forum reasonably ever again.

Do some people mis-represent things, either intentionally or mistakenly, sure. Are some of the prices out of whack, sure.

But if you let people make comments in those threads, it will become one giant ***** and complaint section. No one will want to deal with that kind of crap to try and sell something. It'll all go back to eBay.

Isn't this assumption drastic? Do people really over price cues by 3x that often?

No, my assumption is based on reading forums here on a regular basis, and the tendency for each and every one of them going to hell in a matter of minutes.

It is extremely easy to sit behind a keyboard and crap all over anything, and people find it amusing to do, apparently. That is why there are rules to prohibit comment, knocking if you will, because it is as close to a lock as you will find.

Do not underestimate the forum participants capacity for lack of self-control, or class.

A woman who had lived a long life and was now 114 yrs old was asked this question, what do you think is important in living a long and healthy life....

Her exact words;

"Tend To Your Own Business"

Yrs ago in the pool rooms people did this. Nowadays, respect of anothers business, well lets just say the word respect has turned into gossip.

How would you like if you finally got the game you wanted with another player, only to have some ''pool detective'' walk up and tell your opponent they can't win.

I believe in forum etiquette, especially on WFS threads, but it should work both ways.
Ugly or way overpriced is the sellers problem and rarely are they sold on this forum, but after 90-bumps somebody should say something.
Typically it's easier just to move on if you don't like the cue or the price.
I really find it annoying though to see the same deal bumped 90-times.
Wouldn't you think that there is something wrong with the sale after 2000-views, 116-bumps, and the only one trade offer?
Certain cues are "keepers", meaning that you are stuck with them no matter how many times you bump the thread.
Go ahead and threaten us that the cue is "going to Ebay" or "back in the closet".....bye bye

Doesn't matter to me. Guys will play loser if they have the time and heart to play the game anyways. I play loser all the time. Being devious and treating someone like they don't have better judgment is is what really bother's. I've done it...and someone puts me in my place, it was a great lesson learned. If you're going to ***** to someone about not being able to rip someone off, or cry over the fact that someone got really angry at you for feeding them bs...you should probably check yourself.

I can't count the amount of times I have to bargain someone down just to get a fair price. Fact of the matter is, freedom of speech is usually executed by those who feel something is unjust.

If one of my boys is matching up with a champion I'll them him to get the right spot. There's a difference between letting your boy gamble and sitting back watching his nuts get chopped off. If the guy is a champ he'll give up the weight. He might even play as a dog. Plenty of guys will do that. But getting mad because you can't make a sucker out of someone is bad business.

You make my point for me. Your first instinct was to attack me because you don't agree with what I said. He is asking for permission to do the same thing you do. Am I supposed to be shocked you agree with him.

Never criticized spmeones pricing in a thread before and I guess I just asked a question I probably already knew the answer to. Cant say I have never posted an opinion about what a cue looked like. That I have done. Most of the time it has been how good a cue looks. Once, maybe twice I have said something non nice about a cue. Thanks for all the input guys. Take care.

Hmmmm

But you don't understand....this guy has a cue fetish. It's a special case. He stated two examples of guys selling him bogus products, whether it be over-pricing an item or over exaggerating its beauty. It would piss me off too. Pricing and looks are up to the seller...if he doesn't price it right, it will NOT sell. I mean, if you are trying to be a good doer, hang out in front of a used car lot and you will be busy for life.

If you don't like the cue, you move on. I mean, there is enough disagreeing on here as is, it is nice that you can go in the cue threads and just look at cues with worrying about some troll bad mouthing the seller or the cue or getting into an argument.

Now, if he is selling something and claims it to be something it is not, that is another story. There was a guy a few weeks back that was claimaing a CC cue was made by Tascarella, or he was "hinting" it was. Either way, he got lit up like a xmas tree for the BS.

Pricing aggressively is fine, asking top dollar is fine, asking too much is fine because some folks sometimes believe their cues are worth more than they are. They soon discover not everybody has the same opinion when it sits for sale here for months without a nibble.

But ugly? Heck, there are a whole lot of cues I think are ugly and another bunch of cues I would never buy just because of the country of origin. But to go in the thread and knock the seller because of that...no way.
