Forum running very slow

Academic sites are down status.blackboard.com is reporting Northeast USA and Central Europe areas are outages.
check with speed tests and be safe

Someone is going offensive tonight.
Its a cyber attack. Anyone want to form a cyber group in AZ?

Cloudflare has the best defense for DDOS attacks.

Stop outsourcing work and stop giving access to cybercriminals taking low pay jobs to access critical IT infrastructure.

In the gaming community its common to have multiple access points on different servers by region.

If AZ goes down, which alternate providers can minimize downtime? It is a cost versus quality issue. Best wishes.

I notice this mostly, when using the "mark forums" read. Sometimes it takes 10 seconds.

I noticed I think 2-3 days ago. Rebooted computer and modem. Have over a gig download speed, confirmed via Speedtest. Other sites fine. This one has a 3-7 second delay after a click.

Its possible the site is under attack and someone had access that they should not.

I also experience computer issues. Some links are taking me to sites that dont load.

If the site owner allows a security audit, then the skilled computer users can do a scheduled and authorized penetration test to assess security flaws.

Most pen tests conclude in updating the server or using the latest internet methods. For the hackers its a pizza party about bragging rights.

Does AZB want a volunteer offensive/defensive cyberforce?

Certainly not you.

I wouldn't trust you to succeed opening a can.

I've been getting these, too. And the site has been slow. I'm running 100Mbps download, don't think it's me.
It is 100% this site.

As I said earlier, my internet speed is fine, many other sites are fine.
All the usual log out log in, clear cache etc has made no difference.

This is only a recent problem.

That screenshot showed a server issue, hopefully Mike can find some logs to work it out.

Hard to tell way out here in da middle of the Desert.
Just did a "speed test" as they refer to it, chucklin';
Ping took 38 msec.
Download was 5.1 Mbps
up load was 0.8 Mbps

Ya'll should appreciate living near a city.

I just used https://www.webpagetest.org/

It can run a speed test on websites.

Key stand out:

Is it Usable?
Not bad... This site had minor layout shifts. It took a long time to become interactive. It had 2 accessibility issues, 1 critical. 23.1% of HTML was generated client-side, delaying usability.

Well...after your tweak and downtime, forum appears to navigate faster since. However it seems during peak user time, the "Mark all forums" still takes 10+ seconds. Green "thinking" about it band before actual dialog box pops up. During non-peak time, works fine. FYI
Thks

Yeah, yeah, yeah . . . things aren't like we want them, but the AZB glass is way more than half full. I am afraid we have become spoiled. I recall a time when lag was the order of the day all across the world wide web. My recent issue with AZB was not knowing whether or not my click had been received or should I click again. Then, as I waited and pondered, I came to realize that patience is a virtue truly worth acquiring and exercising. Think about it, isn't AZB is a Garden of Eden when compared to other websites-- a pop-up free oasis in an internet otherwise plagued with the pests? Consider your time wasted closing unwanted ads on other sites -- one cannot find the content, much less read it, without first closing all the @(^&# and then, just when you think you got them all, they keep on popping, and the site still lags, to boot.

There have been many changes and advances during our lifetimes in pool, the true benefits of some of which we might legitimately debate. But considering AZB, I say "winner, winner, chicken dinner". I cannot imagine my pool world without it.

So, all things considered, I believe we should count ourselves fortunate, say the blessings have it, and quit counting nits. Thanks, Mike, for all you do.

I made some changes last night, that will hopefully help.

Mike
I have noticed some improvements.

But post 36 above is also what I am finding.
Is this due to server allocation or some other issue with bandwidth?

Even hitting Like on a post, can take 3 to 7 seconds to register during peak traffic.

It loads really slowly with the ad-blocker on. Remove it and it loads fast.

Pick whichever one bothers you least, ads or slow.
