I must acknowledge my ignorance, this is the first site that I have participated in forums and I have some questions.

1) What is a bump?

2) What does the "REP" button do?

3) What are the little green squares under the User ID by the avatar.

I can only guess as I am new here too but here goes....

1) bump = evertime there is a post it goes back to the top of the forum so when you reply with a "bump" it goes back to the top and increases the chance of someone looking at the thread

2&3) "REP" and Green Squares - I think these two have something to do with eachother. but that is just a guess.

The green squares (or "greenies") are indications of your reputation on the forum. If you mouse over the squares, you will see text indicating the poster's reputation. This is important, to some extent, in that it can give some idea as to how reliable the poster's information is although, obviously, it will take a new poster time to build up rep points regardless of how valuable or insightful his/her posts are. Generally, a person with a lot of points is regarded as a valuable and informative poster.

You receive an additional green square for every hundred reputation points you receive. If a forum member likes your post, he/she clicks on the 'rep' button, indicates that they approve of your post, and you are awarded rep points based on the number of rep points that the awarding member has. You can check to see your total number of rep points and the most recent rep points received by clicking on "User CP" on the top left of your screen.
