Fountain Inn Red's Players IX Pool Cue?

Purchased on eBay from a seller who said he knew Red and purchased this cue from him. Beautiful cue and vintage, but I would have thought a heavily reputed player would have had a more prestigious cue. One curious feature is what seem like man made errors--points not all same height, a misaligned dark diamond at the end of a dark thin veneer line.

Red played with a schon cue(called it his battle axe) had it for 15+years. He may have sold this cue to somebody but i promise you(i knew don willis aka fountain inn red) for many many years and he played with a schon.

Yup. I agree. Except I didn't know him, I just researched him.


I talked to that seller. I was not satisfied with what he had to say.


The background story is of some trivial interest. The cue may indeed have passed through Red's hands, but I don't think it contributes much if anything to the value.


I hope you didn't pay more than an old used flawed Players cue is worth.

Curious?...Nah.. Just not detail oriented in a cheap cue...

Red played with many different cues and was never one to try to be flashy as he was there to take your money, not show off his cue. He was a great bar table player and could beat just about anyone on any given day.
