Franklin Southwest

Unfortunately, you are right. The market is off right now. I've seen these things going for as low as $1,700, and averaging around $1,900 (for normal ones, not undersized or anything). Just a year ago $2,200 was not unusual. Unless you need to get rid off it, I wouldn't sell.

Since the market is a little slow...what would be a reasonable asking price for this Franklin Southwest...

...Pau Ferro forearm, ebony points, ebony/holly veneers
13.2mm & 13.0mm shafts... 98% condition! 19.8oz & 19.6oz.

i don't think there's such a thing as a slow market when it comes to Franklin SW's, a "wide" one maybe but never slow. if the cue is in very good condition and all is straight and has not been refinished by anyone but SW i would say the sale value should be between $2400 to $2900. if no one offers that, i'd hold onto it.

Exactly

My thoughts exactly.

unfortunatelt there is such a thing as a slow market for SW cues.and $2900 is totally absurd.$2400 is too high for now,but 6 months ago,you might have gotten $2400.i would have to agree with Bankr and say $1800-$2000 for this cue.

I would hold on to it, unless you're willing to bend over to the buyers then right now isn't the time! :(

ok.....how many 98% condition 2 veneer, unrestored by anyone other than SW, full shaft Franklin's do know are for sale for between $1800 and $2000??

What ever the brand of cue, if your selling now, you have to price a cue for todays market, not yesterdays or tomarro's but todays, and unfortunatley todays market is not strong, be it cues, houses, cars etc.
People are holding their money unless they get a "deal" price........ IMO

Skins,Worminator has one for a $2050 asking price.i am sure i could find more, but that one is pretty recent.

Cue sold for $2050 but was a newer cue not a Franklin. It also had a maple nose . The exotic wood nose, condition, and the fact that it is a Franklin push this cue up. If it were mine I'd be asking like $2695 or so on the websight. I wouldn't expect it to fly out the door but you never know. JMO

listen i don't want to get in a "tit for tat" discussion about this with the criteria i mentioned ( 98% condition 2 veneer, unrestored by anyone other than SW, full shaft Franklin's). you can believe what you want but imo you will not find many if any of these type cues for the prices you state. in essence your saying that there are more than some out there that are "virtually new" and at these prices and i think your mistaken so we can agree to disagree.

anyone have some for sale with this criteria posted by the original poster??

Are you anting up to buy this SW for $2,400 - $2,900 at the moment?

There has been at least 2 per month for the last 6 months, whether on ebay, here, or wherever else. Broker websites don't count because they never have market correct pricing. They have hiked up pricing for the hagglers. Noone is arguing it's a very nice cue, it's just not a very nice market right now. I know, because I own some, and have been watching very closely. Believe me, I wish it were higher. It's not like I'm trying to buy this cue, or lowball my own. We all may have our opinions, but the market does not lie.

I would agree that this would be the market price range.

the $2,700 range was the 'PEAK' price point for these cues, not the market avg, and certainly not the current market avg.

i'm not "in" an aggressive buying market right now, but for the right combo of woods i'd "pounce" on a deal at those prices. i believe what i think and haven't heard anything to make me think different. a couple posts ago it was said that there have been about 12, at the criteria stated by the poster, sold recently and i would bet they weren't at this criteria. sure you may find some at about 70% condition, shafts under 13mm and maybe even some refinished by others that "look" good, but not many at the posters criteria. i still want to see all that are 98% + the other specs for $1800 to $2000.......
