My wife took a trip and left me free for a week and I went wild. She left on Sunday at 11:00 AM and I was at the Ox Sports Bar for their 5 and under 8-ball tournament at 12:30.
I got knocked out of that pretty quick so I ran over to the Metro Sports Bar for their evening 8 and under 8-ball tourney.
Nothing on Monday so I just played for funsies with my friends at Lizard Acres Pool Hall.That night I went over to The Northern Lounge hoping to get in a tournament that was supposed to be there but it never developed.
Tuesday morning I played in a mini-tournament with some other old guys at The Lakeview Rec Center. Stayed there until about 1:00PM playing cheap 8-ball and then went home to get some sleep.
That evening I dragged my butt all the way over to Tempe to play in Kolby's handicapped 9-ball tournament. Did pretty well so I didn't get home until 2:00AM.
It all starts to get a little hazy at this point although I know that on Thursday- day I spent playing the old guys thing again at Lakeview Rec center And I think that night or Friday night I played in another 8-ball tournament at Metro Sports Bar.
On Saturday I entered a Scotch Doubles tournament at Kitty's
Lounge with a guy I never played with before. It was pretty heavy action and we didn't do too well.
On Sunday went over to The Ox Sports bar and played in the 8-ball tournament again.
My wife came home late Sunday and one of the first questions she asked me was ,"What did you do while I was gone , Honey?" And, of course , I replied with the truth. "Oh, just played some pool , like
always."
So , I didn't get rich but I at least covered expenses for the week and I had a ball, win or lose. There is lots of opportunities for us low end guys to play tournaments. Their not expensive and the experience is great.
With the handicapping you can get pretty deep and make some of the
better players nervous. If your not doing it your missing out on some good times. :woot:
