Free Information - Who Would Like A Cue Case By The Most Famous Cue Case Maker Alive

I talked to Chas today and he said he wanted to wait to see how he felt before getting to involved with taking orders. He still isn't back to 100% so he is proceding slowly.
BTW, he answered his phone immediately and was very nice on the phone. Hope his health improves.

Thanks for posting this. His not wanting to over-commit is a very good indicator of his integrity.

yeah that guy is rediculously good. id would live in his garage and learn everything he knows and live off of corn flakes and sink water to be as good as he is one day :o). where is he from anyways?

Chas lives in Colorado. He once told me that he doesn't mind helping other leather craftsmen and sharing his knowledge. He's that kind of guy.

If you are serious and not a fruitcake then I suggest you contact him. When I went to visit him and got to know him the one thing I wished for was to be unmarried and 18 so that I could apprentice under him.

If you are in any way able to do this without bringing "your life" into his. Meaning that whatever your issues, problems, hangups and so on are you leave them behind and go there to learn, to truly learn without bringing anything but an empty mind then you should.

I have no doubt that after a few years under Chas Clements that you will emerge as one of the finest leather crafters in the world.

If you can do that then call him. I am certain that he could use the help. Be prepared to work for cornflakes though - don't get hung up on getting paid because what you would be learning will get you paid for the rest of your life.

Charlie, this is very true, he will share his knowledge freely. I am also having a case built by Rusty Melton, who is forum Member capefairpool. While in communication with Chas I told him about the case Rusty was building for me. He really liked Rusty's work, and told me to let Rusty know that if he needed any help, he would be glad to help Rusty. I contacted Rusty and he contacted Chas, what ever information they are sharing I am certain will it benefit Rusty.

Take Care Charlie!!!

Rich, thanks for sharing your story. I, too, think Chas is great guy. He just has had some bad luck in the recent past. I paid $2200 up front for a case in 2003. Unfortunately, Chas severely injured his hand just before starting on it. And other health issues soon followed. I feel my patience will someday pay off with a super nice case from him.

I talked with him yesterday and he agreed that he should take things slowly. I truly like Chas and wish him the very best. It would probably be best to wait before ordering from him... and see how things go.

I encouraged him to join AZ and participate. I hope he does.

Nooooo Charlie, that never goes well. Chas is SUPER guy but a forum monster - like many of us (me) he doesn't suffer what he thinks is bad information well and it often ends up in long fights over it. Less typing will help his thumb heal faster. :-)

I thought about emailing him to have him come on here and give us a speech on what really good leather work entails but then thought I shouldn't encourage him because of forum-fighting Chas. He is like Thomas Wayne when it comes to forums, knows his shit inside and out and doesn't mind telling you about in ways that are sometimes rather harsh.

Anyway, I hope that he is able to satisfy his prior obligations first and then Craig's case. I am happy to see him back on the horse and hope that he starts putting out more work.

Manwon...thought of adding one of this other items to your order? Some places, one might come in handy. ;)

No, I carry concealed just like everyone else these days, any other weapon is behind the times.

Take care
