Frog and Tadpole Jump Cues

Robin , you have an excellent product at a value price point .
You already upgraded the ferrules from brass , and made tips available as technology improved .
Don't take a successful product and get into "change for the sake of change"

Remember "New" Coke ?

It was sticky , and hard to get off the mirror ! :D

How about a video to go along with it... a how to for beginners and advanced players?

The two cues look to be different sizes but in the description it says 40". I know for me I like a little more length to a cue so adding an extension might do well and you wouldn't have to fully revamp the cue. :)

Just my input.. the video idea is also very good.

They use to be different sized, they have evolved over the years.
They are both 40 inches now because the Tadpole (40 inches) could beat the Frog (42 inches) on the closer shots, less weight.

That being said...I totally know what your talking about for the length.
I use to have the same problem, now I don't and that is one of the things I will discuss on the video.

Make'm jump like a Lomax and you'll sell a million of them. I can't tell you why his Jumpers work so good, but I have used a few of them and they do work.

You decided not to sell the business?

I'm leaning toward keeping it, after I talked about helping someone else build it back up, I thought why not do it myself.
I'm not familiar with a Lomax cue or any other jump cue really.
The Frog and Tadpole have sold very well for me over the years.
I just got focused on the Cue Clips.

I think it would be nice to update the frog and tadpole to the latest spec approvals.

The frog was the best/easiest jump stick i ever used with the brass ferrule. Made lots of shots because it was that easy...change?...I'll keep my with no changes...Still the one.

It’s been a while since you've seen the Frog and the Tadpole. I felt the same as you, so about 7-10 years ago I tried the new phenolic tip on the frog and Tadpole (I wasn't sold on the phenolic tip) so just in case I didn’t like it, I ordered 2 shafts for the Frogs and Tadpoles. 1 with the original brass ferrule and regular leather tip.
And a new shaft with a regular ferrule and a phenolic tip. I wanted to be sure I knew I had 1 that works.
Well the phenolic tip barbecued the leather tip by 90%, I could jump easier soooooooooooo much easier, and like you said the Frog and Tadpole jumped great before. So you can imagine how I felt!!!

I still kept the second shaft (marketing purposes) I put a regular ferrule and regular tip and it became a short cue for the places that need just that a “short cue”. SO the Frog and Tadpole became the 2 in one “Jump Cue or Short Cue (depended on the need).

The stores didn't sell many jump cues but they did need short cues, so it worked.

Now that they have a tip ferrule combined on the market I wonder if that would make the Frog and Tadpole even better? I don't know about the advantage of the combo? Any input guys?

the DVD sounds like a great idea .
Forum member RobleyF got jumpimg instruction from you in Vegas this summer , and he was hugely impressed by your ability to teach .
Now , if only that can be translated to video . . . .

Best of luck ! Glad to hear you're keeping the company !:)

Thank you.

I just posted on Facebook this very thought...if I could do a video maybe the best way is to have a few students to teach it too.
I need equipment not sure what kind, it doesn't have to be a Super video just an instructional on the jump shot. I think adding the video to each order (no charge) would make a perfect fit with the Frog or Tadpole.
This seems to be the direction I'm leaning , any input on equipment?

Had a Frog, the wrap started to unravel. The wrap wasn't glued down.
Bare wood on the handle, not a trace of glue.
Had a Tad Pole, the finish bubbled and blistered after a short time. Possibly could focus on quality control.
Sold the Tad and traded the Frog for a Jacoby. Much better quality by a long shot and I would think made in North America as opposed to China. The Jacoby can be had for the same price as the Frog. Green finished shaft and honestly, I would have liked to see what quality of shaft wood was under the finish. The Jacoby has a maple shaft. Which way should a player go?

I copied and pasted this to my order, sorry you had such a bad experience with them.
My husband is known at the shows for saying the Frog and the Tadpole have a life time guaranty "that is the life of Robin". For any reason I will replace the cues 100% of the time.
They are made in China and the price is $79.95 with 2 shafts, others have them a bit lower than that. They aren't USA quality, but that isn't acceptable to me either, it isn't the norm.
Again sorry I wish I would have known.

Robin

I copied and pasted what you wrote, here is the response...

Dear Robin,

Your comment on the Frog & Tadpoles cues QUALITY which has come to our best
attention & have strictly instructed our China Xiamen factory staff to pay the best
attention with improvement for the new order.

When my order comes in I would like to replace the two that were bad for you. again, I'm sorry.

Robin

They have been around for EVER its time for a face-lift I could really use your insights.

What's new out there that blows the Jump shot apart?

The frog and tadpole was around when you could only use a leather tip...I never went pheonlic ferrule-tip as one I didn't think it was legal. They still have a pheonlic tip only.

Anyway, I'm looking for insights so I can upgrade the cues to the 2011 year.

Any insights? This is what they look like now http://robindodson.com/The_Frogjumpcuenew.htm

thank you,

Robin

I have 2 tadpoles left, order for more goes in today if anyone here is looking for one you can go to my website http://robindodson.com/The_Frogjumpcuenew.htm only 2 left wow.
Can't wait to say that about my Cue-Clips!!!
Thanks for the input guys

Last two jump cues sold this morning. Next batch coming soon.

I will be doing a home video on jumping. This will be free for each ordered Frog or Tadpole.
The video itself will not be professionally done....but you can take it to the bank that the info on jumping will be worth more to you than the jump cues themselves (when I was on tour my line was "I make money selling the frog and tadpole but I made Thousands using them) . I can teach not only the jump shot but everything I know that goes along with the jump shot. I hope the stores (sales people that are not pool players) will be able to sell the Frog and Tadpole even faster with a video to go with them. Anyway that is my newest (I think) Einstein plan :)

That's very good advice......don't fix something that isn't broken.

yes, please leave it alone. I just bought one of these bad boys and I would be really sad if you made another one better than this (that I would want to buy) :( It's X-Mas! Don't tempt me to spend more money.

I haven't got mines yet but just from aesthetics I gotta say I really like the way it looks. It's really simple and clean if that makes sense.

PS: Maybe making a wrapless version would be cool too!
