Jennifer Barretta - never seen her play so well...her match against Jeanette Lee was a thing of beauty....don't think she made one mistake in this match...potted all the tough balls and always on the right side of the object ball...she made the game seem very easy....her match for TV wasn't her best effort...she hung the 9 ball early in the match..and Hsin Huang (shin wong)...never let her back in the match...all in all...a great tourney for her....congrats...(the snooker player)
Steve Tipton - is going to retire...he will be at the events for the rest of the year...on Saturday and Sunday only....btw - they are looking for a full time tournament director....if you interested..contact the WPBA...
rest/rake - noticed a lot of the America girls stretching for shots instead of using the rest....this caused them to either miss the pot or end up with a lot of work to do on the next ball....they should practice with the rest....this is no time to be stubborn - anybody with a snooker background doesn't hesitate to use the rest....
Sarah Rousey and Melissa Herndon didn't play close to their skill level....both will be a lot tougher in New Mexico...both are alot of fun to watch....watch Melissa face and you know exactly whats going on..she is very antimated..it was my pleasure to have a few words with both of these ladies....
Kelly Fisher (the new fenom) and Tiffany Nelson ---Kelly won the first four racks....then Tiffany got down to business and won the match going away....nevery watched either lady closely before...Kelly needs to learn 9 ball...but Tiffany played a great match....she really got down to it....it was fun to watch the face of Kelly when she realized that this match that she led 4 - 0 at one time...was getting away from her and there was nothing she could do about it....
Rachel Abbink and Jennifer Chen...Rachel was off to a quick start when she missed a straight in 9 ball....that one shot changed the whole match....mo got on Jennifer's side and she smart but aggressive pool...to knock Rachel out of the tourney...
I was there for Friday and Saturday....Karen Corr seems to be going thru a bad batch right now....she will be back..Allison Fisher was just been Allison Fisher on Saturday and didn't give Karen much of a chance in their winners side final on Saturday nite....we now know that Sunday was a whole different ball game...
Julie Kelly - is a deserving champion she went a long and difficult road and won all the tough matches....congrats...
Heard that the Casino did not renew the contract with WPBA..so if thats true...the ladies will not be back to Windsor anytime soon....too bad...I roughly counted between 150 and 175 fans on Friday nite and close to 200 on Saturday...(no hockey on Saturday will do that for you in Canada).
Am sure that some of my observations will hurt some...but we pool players are a tough breed....
