Willie Hoppe, or at least a Hoppe, is listed as a former winner of the World Straight Pool Championships shown on the front page of this web site. Willie Hoppe did not play pool and considered it beneath him.

Was this supposed to be to the person who wrote the article or a PM for the moderators? I can't tell.

Frederic Caudron has run over 900 at balkline if you are willing to count back-to-back-to-back runouts from the first shot of World Championship matches. I don't know why people are so excited about Mosconi's 526. But both of these are insignificant compared to Tom Reece's great run of 499,135 in 1907, which took 5 weeks. But what the Dragon Promotions press release meant to say was "Hopkins" who won in the World 14.1 Championship in 1977. He was my second match in that tournament.

Fascinating article Bob. I had read about the cradle cannon and always wondered what it looked like. I would be way more satisfied if I could see a video of how a player achieved this position and then what it looked like when he was shooting it.

Hoppe was a very good pool player and gambleld at it.

I have always heard the opposite. I've also read it somewhere, but I don't recall where at the moment.
I had been working on a lengthy paper for school when I saw the front page article and posted without really thinking about it.
Sorry if I shouldn't have.
