Frustrated with my own slow play in 8 ball

I know I am slow player and I at times ask teammates if I as slow other players I am playing against who are driving me nuts with their slow play. And unfortunately the answer is yes (sometimes it's hard to objectively tell one's own pace of play).

Ugh. I don't want to be like them. Not sure what to do. If I play faster, I play worse (especially strategy wise and pattern wise).

Any advice?
Sounds like you need to go electric snowboarding.

Are you slow down over the shot or making your decision as to what to do before you even get over the shot? Some players may be slow in one of those two aspects, but the player who is slow in both is very hard to play against. Figure out which one of those two aspects most needs to be sped up and work on it.

This not the answer to the original post but it is how I deal with extremely slow players. I just pull out a newspaper or magazine and read between shots. It pisses everybody else off...but I am relaxed and ready for my next turn. Let the slow player deal with the problem.

How is wasting someone else’s time not rude?

If you are doing a solo session then by all means play as slowly as you want. In a league night your actions have an impact on other people whether you like it or not. Pretending otherwise is selfish.
Not just league night, but any tournaments. We have a few players in our weekly tournaments that are extremely slow. It is a real issue with everyone. It creates a problem as a TD/owner particularly when the slowest player may be one of your best $ spending customers, or their spouse.

If you have to play them (like in a tournament or league):

Play hard. Don't leave them a shot. The less they're at the table, the less they can do their horsepooky.

If it's action: then don't play if the juice ain't worth the squeeze.

Pretty simple you guys. Get off the computer and go hit balls.

Gee whiz.
