Frustrated...

When I think about being the working stiff that I am, the vigilance of the BBC crushing streamers that dare to share the tournaments with us savage Americans and the unfortunate spot that I am placed on the globe this Masters is quite an aggravating event. I would have loved to see Dott beat Higgins.

Veetle

I live in toronto ontario canada and watched some of the first match on channelsurfing.net at around 0830 my time, then the end of the higgins match on veetle.com.
on veetle there is someone that streams the bbc channels live. go under the news catagory and click on the big british flag. you'll get to see it live. you also may need to download the veetle software, but it's free. hope this helps.

Thanks for all the responses I will be trying these links this weekend.

The problem during the week is I get home too late from work to watch a whole match and on the weekend the last couple of tournaments have been shut down on justintv. As soon as I find a good stream it gets yanked.

Thanks again for the tips.

Frustrated no more

I found a great way to watch BBC live and their iPlayer which archives most broadcasts including snooker for 7 days. Snooker Tournaments are usually broadcast on BBC2. The trick is you need a UK IP address to access. expatshield.com sets up a VPN and gives you a UK IP address. Hard to believe it is free and the quality is great.
If the BBC2 coverage ends because it has to go to another show, you can watch the live action by clicking on the "Sport" link and then "Snooker" and then you should see where you can click to continue watching the Live coverage. If you miss anything, you can watch for up to 7 days on iPlayer any of the old broadcasts. It does take them several hours to make these available on iPlayer after the Live broadcast.

If you don't mind not watching the matches live or if you experience poor quality from live streams you can download most matches on torrent sites. The best I know for that is probably thebox.bz. Just create a [free] account and browse/search the torrent files.

It can take anything between a couple of hours to several days before a match/session gets posted. For example last night I downloaded O'Sullivan vs. Allen, and the match was played the same day in the afternoon. It took about 30 minutes to download it, the media file lasts about 3 hours and 30 minutes.

Once you've downloaded the media file (generally a .avi file) you can play it everywhere and anytime you want, no stream, no clicking, etc. The quality is generally pretty good -- at least good enough to play it on my HD screen in the living room (which I can't do with most live streams).

I've been watching stuff on an HD TV for a couple of years, but the picture left something to be desired.
In particular, the colours were sort of washed out.
Whenever I mentioned it here, the comments coming back attriubted the problem to:
Video card
Cable quality (between computer and TV)
Computer settings

In December, looking for information in the TV manual for another use for the TV, I came across A/V settings.
Didn't see the button on my remote.
It was behind a flip cover on the remote - never realized that it was a flip cover - I'm a techno-idoiot

The A/V button would scroll through a number of different setting.
Let's just say the the picture quality has vastly improved.

Now I'll have to try your proxy recommendation.
I haven't been able to get into BBC for a couple of years.
Thanks
