5/16-18 pin Joss cues

Danny told me earlier this year that he used the 18 pin around 1973-4 on about 12 cues because it was easier to get and worked. He repinned most of them upon request and decided to go back to the 14 pin.
This is one of a very few that was never repinned. I also had one of these cues but higher end. The cue is a 1973-4 balck letter Joss.
Nick :)

You are absolutely wrong.!!!

Nick, Danny told me that he used the 5/16x18 thread pin the first few months in 1968 until he found out about the 5/16x14 thread pin and then changed. Tim Scruggs told me the same thing. Please keep your inaccurate information out of everyones threads. You are a pest!!! The logo with the non capped italic J makes it 68-72 when they were together. The 18 thread pin makes it early 68.

68-72 agreed bob, nick must be back having them visions and hearing voices again lmfao :)

With a username like mine, how could I not bump this thread? Wish I had the cash! GL with the sale.

Hahahahaha

Nick with the above time chart posted looks like your wrong again 1968-1972 exactly!!!!!!! Bob know and has way more cues than most and better than that he uses them better than most FYI

Not my intention on agreeing with anyone by posting the picture. It was a judge for yourself thing. Bill Stroud's engraving always had a slanted "J" and itallic script. Dan's engraving straight up and down. I have a '74 Joss with an 18 pin. If it matters that much email Dan Janes. I'm sure he'll give you an answer. He is always very helpful. 68 or 73-74 Great cues regardless.

bump !! For a nice 1968 Joss cue at a steal price. Good shape for a cue 42 years old me thinks !!

Once again you spoke and removed all doubt!

Great cue

The pin was used only in 73-74. After stating that Bob and Steve basicly say I am lying. Danny didn't lie to me. Email Danny. Ask when he used the 18 pin. Don't take my word or Bob's or Steve's or anyone elses. Why I was belittled for stating the truth is beyond me.
I am no expert. I do know how to ask them and thank them for their time. The pin dates this cue. The J on my 18 pin cue looked just like this cue's.
I rember Rick Howard taking one look at mine and him saying nice mid 70's Joss. I thought it was a very early Joss and Rick said no way. It has a 18 pin and then he rewraped it for me.
I called Mr Danny and sure enough Rick was dead on.
I have alot of experience with cues like this cue. No way Danny told Bob a 18 pin Joss was made in 68. It is possable someone was misunderstood.

This cue is nice. It should sell fast. It is priced right. But it isn't a very early Joss.
Nick :)

Nicki, you know a lot less than you think about Joss cues !!!

Mr. Nick, I just got off the phone with Joss custom cues and Danny told me that they only made a few cues with the 18 thread pin in the beginning of 1968 then went to the 5/16x14 thread pin. None of them were ever repinned. Your cue had to be a 68 Joss according to Danny. Not only does the logo date the cue to 68-72 but the 18 thread pin nails it down to 1968. You need to get out of this for sale thread with your misinformation and let Leon sell this 1968 Joss cue to someone at a really fair price. (check the logo with the Joss chart 68-72) Enough said !!!

What is with all the slander in threads lately. The cue looks great and is a classic for sure but there is no point in jumping on someone for posting they thought it was of a different era, no matter who it is. I also had an old Joss with the 5/16 18 pin and have documentation from Dan Janes with pictures of the cue and is says it is from the 1970's. If this cue is as old as some say then he would have had to have used the 18 pin (late 60's) then switched to the 14 (late 60's - early 70's) then back to the 18 (74ish when mine was made) then to the 14 again (70's to present). He told me specifically on the phone and in emails that he used the 5/16 18 in the early to mid 70s on very few cues until people wanted the 5/16 14 back. Regardless, this is a sweet cue from a time period when cues had a little more class imo and is priced very reasonably.

I wasnt going to post this picture but for the sake of informational purposes and to maybe clear anything up down the road I will. This is from the portfolio Dan made me when I sent him my cue.

If that cue was made after 1972 it would have had a different logo. Maybe Dan made a few cues in the middle 70's with the 18 thread pin but not with the italic logo like the cue that is for sale.

That may very well be true and I am not agreeing with any certain person on when the cue was made. I am merely stating he did use the 18 pin in the 70's and sometimes people jump to conclusions about these cues when trying to date them. Who ever buys the cue will not regret it.
