Do these cues hit similar to a Southwest? I've really been thinking about buying one. A guy I see from time to time has one...and it looks really beautiful, and the guy who uses it is a very good player. You seem to get a lot of cue for your money with one of these.

I would say the hit and feel comparison with SW would be a good general reference. Ariel Carmeli cues tend to play various degrees of firm. If a buyer of one of my 6 point AC cues finds the hit too stiff, I will offer to have AC extend the taper on the shafts at no labor charge within the first few weeks. Sort of like custom fitting a cue to a player.

Martin, What is the shaft taper on an AC cue? They have fatter shafts which I like. Also you mentioned before the butt taper/diameter. I could find the post but as I recall you started at the front of wrap and the end of the butt.

What I'd like to know is the std Joint diameter, size at front of wrap and size at end of wrap.

Thanks, Rod

Yo Rod, I think the standard joint size is around .848. Above the wrap is 1.050 and at the buttcap it is close to 1.27. I haven't measured end of wrap, but the wrap area usually begins 5" above the bottom of buttcap.

Shaft taper is a "modified pro"--very gradual increase in thickness for the first 10-12 inches and more rapid gain after that. I hope that helps.

Thanks for the info Martin, that is what I call a fat butt. :D I'll figure it out, maybe.

Rod

They usually don't feel fat because they taper out to the buttcap similar to South West. I only have one AC cue that feels a bit "full" in the handle area mostly because of the wrap. If you order a cue from me I can have AC make the handle a bit slimmer or taper to 1.25 or 1.23 at buttcap if you prefer.

I have had a chance to play with ac cues here recently and i must say i was very impressed, and thats a hard thing to do. A friend of mine bought an ac cue that is absolutely stunning. I currently have a cue on order from well known cuemaker and i hope it plays as well as my freinds ac cue. If my new cue does not play as well i will sell it and purchse a ac cue. LOL the cue circus............where does it end?

Bells sez: "LOL the cue circus............where does it end?"

Too funny! Let me know when you wanna step into the Ariel Carmeli tent!
