FS: Dale Perry 5 point Bacote/Curly Maple 1/1

The Clever Set

I've got a like new bacote/curly maple Dale Perry I'd like to sell. It's in almost perfect shape, I'd estimate 98% condition, with just a couple of minute dings in the finish on the forearm. It comes with two shafts, both are 12.75mm, and one is unplayed and one has just a few shots on it, with very minor bluing. The cue weighs approximately 19.5 oz.

The cue has the radial pin and five points in the forearm and butt sleeve, each with spearhead and diamond inlays of black/gray pearlesence. While it's not signed as a 1/1, the all important Dale Perry Certificate of Authenticity does describe the cue as a 1/1. I guess Dale was very busy the day he signed it, and forgot to include the 1/1 in his signature.

I've played exactly 32 balls (4 racks) with this stick. It's straight and in beautiful shape.

CUE IS SOLD.

I'm tired of derogatory comments about Dale's cues in this thread. If you're pissed that Dale shafted you by putting his stuff on eBay, call him, but don't post your bullshit in my thread.

I really don't want to sound like an a-hole but put it back on ebay. you will be hard pressed to sell it here.

But Good luck

This isn't an eBay DP. Not that it makes that much difference.

Why so much negativity about Dale Perry cues on this site? And what is the difference between "an e-Bay Dale Perry" and a Dale Perry?

1) there are some on here that had Dale's cue before he "went eBay" and the value of their cues dropped drastically
2) there are a few on here who have tried some of Dale's eBay cues and thought the quality wasn't up to snuff (something wrong with the cue they received)
3) there are quite a few on here that have never tried a Dale Perry cue, but because of the negative press of the first two things listed, will bash away on his cues and business practices.
4) if you stick around this forum long enough you'll find that some believe that any "production" cue = CRAP.

I personally have never tried one of his cues, so I couldn't steer someone one way or another. Do a search on the main forum, and you'll see a ton of opinions, reviews, etc. on them.

I have a dale perry that I got about 7 years ago and it plays very well.
Haven't had one problem with it plays as well as my coker,Espiritu and Marshall.

Bump for the weekend.

This is a nice cue, but you're not going to win a coolness contest here on the forums with it.

i had a dp 412 cue all wood with the dice in but sleeve radial pin.played as good as my capone.they play great...

I am looking for a cue and this one is more in my price range than most cues here. Once I read the thread I was really curious about the maker, Dale Perry, so I looked on eBay and on his website.

What I saw on eBay were cues prices from $150 to $1000 with most in the $200 - $300 area. I looked over his website and it appears he is cool. Just him and another guy. I don't know what kind of volume they crank out but it hardly seems that these are "production" cues. Looks to me like a lot of cue for the money.

I am interested in actual experiences people have had with these cues besides the ones already listed.

I have about a dozen cues, including two Dale Perry's. The DP's are both well made and attractive cues that play as well as anything I own. I've had them for several years, and the shafts on both give a nice communicative hit that is (IMO) neither hard nor soft, and they have both stayed straight. The woods in both are beautiful with very nice figure, and the inlays are perfect, with no gaps or glue lines. I understand why AZB'ers have gotten down on his business practices, but if you read the DP-related threads on here where people discuss his cues, as opposed to sales and service issues, you'll see more positives than negatives. Of course, as we always say, YMMV.
