I have a 1983 Josswest pool cue for sale. It is in original condition and has been well taken care of. Very early traditional Josswest with exquisite veneer colors, 4 cocobolo points with 4 veneers (white/black/red/black) into lightly figured bird's eye maple. Cocobolo butt sleeve with an Ivory butt cap, engraved with Bill's early logo with sideways W. Flat face stainless steel piloted (5/16-14 stainless steel pin) joint with stitch rings in the collars. Brown/white speck Irish linen wrap. Cue is in completely original condition (95%) with three super full shafts with Ivory ferrules and Moori medium tips. Finish is great for a super collectible or player. Please pm with an email address for pics. Beautiful cue. $2100.00

Actually you're right. It's actually late 70's, but when I wrote the ad I was thinking of a different JW I have.

Not quite sure

I'm not questioning your expertise. I got my JW from Stroud I think in
1983. It has a sideways W. I could be wrong about the dates but I don't think it was 3 or 4 years earlier. I chose the colors and style and he built it for me. I do remember him trying to talk me out of the black butt plate because he said they were soft and would not be as durable as the white. Could he have had an old butt plate with the sideways W on it and he used it? I would have thought he would put the logo on at the time he built it. Again I could have my dates wrong but I remember buying it after I bought my bar. I did that in late 1982. I'm confused or just senile. :D

I'm not an expert on JW's either, but I've owned a couple.
According to the Blue Book: 1972-80 Sideways W, 1980-83 Upright W.
I currently own a level 5 JW with an upright W. Stroud dated it, by photos, as a 1981 cue.

Maybe I'll send him a pic. Do you think he would try to date mine for me?

Well, I know for a fact my cue is a 78' or 79' and the original ivory butt cap had cracked so my uncle who had originally bought the cue had it replaced with another ivory butt from Stroud. I believe this was done in 82'. I received the cue in 85' from him. The cue has since been in its original form.

Yea, Bill is pretty cool about that. But he is a man of few words.
His contact info is on his website.
