FS/FT Antique fullsplice Brunswick cue w/MOP wedge

So antique cues are definately not my area of expertise but I ran into this while purchasing a Titlist cue today so I thought I would pick it up.

The cue is either a late 1800's or early 1900's model Brunswick. It is in great shape considering it's age. It is a full splice cue with an Ivory join, veneers, and the veneers are also repeated outside the MOP wedge. The shaft is also fullsplice maple into ebony.

I would consider trading for a custom cue by a reputable maker or just selling it outright.

Feel free to shoot me an offer via pm if you have any interest. Please keep in respectfull. I may not be an expert on antique Brunswick cues but I'm not an idiot either.

SOLD!!!

Please continue with your cash/trade offers.

Thanks

'Mash

Ok, so from the research I've done and the input from a few AZ'ers it has been found that the cue is a Brunswick 26 1/2 Trophy cue. The "Trophy" part is the MOP wedge in the butt. Brunswick used this to add a player's name or engrave the winner of a tournament, etc. So hence why it was called a Trophy cue.

Additionally the cue is pretty straight and may be a more recent conversion of a one peice cue although I would tend to doubt that it was ever a one peice. I can't imagine giving away a one peice cue to the winner of a tournament although I guess it could have happened.

Anyway, it's still very cool and is definately large enough to re-convert if someone wished to do so. Honestly, I think if I were going to keep it (if I were into collecting antique billiard memorabilia) I would leave it as is.

Anyway, I've had a ton of interest in the cue and a few decent offers but nothing to make me want to pull the trigger just yet.

So please keep the offers coming and don't be shy. You never know whats going to catch my eye!

I don't think the cue was made as a One Peice, but that could have been possible. I suspect that at some point in time some one changed the cues pin. Cues made like this had the Pin in the shaft not in the cues butt.

Is there an insert in the cues shaft? It doesn't show in any of the photo's you have provided.

In the end this is great looking cue, and also in very nice condition.

Oh and by the way, it is hard to accurately date this cue, cue like it were made all the way up to the early 1920's. If the original pin was still there it would make dating the cue much easier. However, since the cue is a Brunswick 26 1/2 blank the cue was made around 1908 or later, because according to Brunswick catalogs they started making this model in 1908.

Good Luck with you sale.

I'm very interested

I'm quite interested in buying the cue from you but I don't want to guess how much to offer or trade for it. Please just post a price and trade value that you r looking to get for the cue. If it is a fair price we can work something out .

Andy

Bump and back up for sale.

The buyer backed out.

Sorry to here that, but please answer my question is there an insert in the shaft? or better yet please take a photo of the bottom of the shaft.

Thanks

The pin is in the butt. I thought maybe it was obvious from the photo but what do I know. Lol

Thanks everyone that is what I am asking, I just can see threads on that Pin screwing into wood.

Thanks everyone.

Sorry, I misunderstood the question. Honestly, I was in the car when I responed so thats my excuse! Lol :sorry:

There is not an insert. The pin screws into wood.

I hope that helps.

Thanks for the information, and good luck with your sale.

I would check the pin and see if it will unscrew by hand, it may have different threads on the other side. I have seen some of these old cues where the adhesive had come loose in the shaft leaving the pin in the cues butt. It really seems odd that a pin with such fine threads would screw directly into wood/

Thanks for the observation Craig. The pin will not unscrew from the butt by hand. It may be the way it was photographed but the threads are not as fine it may appear.

Anyway, bump for a sale or trade.

A lot of people have inquired about the value. I would take somewhere in the $600-$800 range in cash and slightly more in trade value.

If I don't have some serious interest by the end of the weekend, I will be listing it on eBay next week.

Back up for a sale or trade.

It's being relisted again on ebay if it doesn't sell/trade this weekend.

Back to the top once again. I can't believe someone hasn't bought this cue yet.

It seems like there's always people looking for Titlist cues to do conversions with and this is the predesessor to the Titlist. This would make an excellent conversion for someone and you would still have a very cool full spliced shaft left over as a conversation piece.
