Based on that, today could be your lucky day.
Meaning What ?
Based on that, today could be your lucky day.
Meaning you jumped through hoops doing what the person asked and got treated the way you describe. Is this the type person you would really like to do business with?
I am completing a sale tomorrow with a buyer who is bringing cash to my door.
This saves both he and I from any potential ill will and keeps us bth safe. We both saved on shipping and split the savings.
Justabanger, just quit it already.
1)shipping 200# of material to Canada would have been outrageously expensive. You made no offer to help with shipping out of country.
2) Paying with Paypal leaves me at risk of your chargeback, which is as bad as a Nigerian rubber check.
3)After the first person failed to send payment I clearly stated in an earlier post that I opened it up to everyone as first come first served. I PM'ed all interested parties in writing and by telephone message if I had their number. YOU WERE JUST A LITTLE LATE on the buzzer...too bad.
4)I made the best deal that I could for myself with no risk whatsoever. You posted before in the WFS section that I could be a scammer even before the 1st deal fell through. Who the hell would do business with you fool?
I work with large cashiers checks everyday, and according to my bank they cannot tell if a check is valid or not, the only way is to deposit and see a while later, bunch of BS. Sometimes I can call the bank that issued it and all they can tell me is if the account exists, which still doesn't guarantee the check is good as some scammers use existing account numbers to write fake checks.
If you don't have a bank account at the issuing bank the check is written from then they will not cash it for you unless you can go to the actual branch that wrote the check, which you cannot find most of the time as it isn't written on the check, only the Bank name. It is too much risk for them.
This is a major problem with the banking industry.
Some people have also been arrested for trying to cash a check that they didn't realize was fake.

I dont know either of you, but if justabanger commited to buy it, as you were selling it, and for your asking price, then its bad business to bail on your deal because you had a better offer. If you wanted someone to pay shipping, all you had to do was ask. And there is no way I would ever send you a check for anything. You are new here with no itrader, and for all we know, you are probably Jeff Forney. I know hes in new york somewehere. Just my pennies.I am completing a sale tomorrow with a buyer who is bringing cash to my door.

You can cash It without an account if you know the right person. Only thing is You better be sure that It's good or that person could be in some serious trouble, and lose their job.
Paypal does not just charge back. Both parties are customers. They have the two people try to work it out. If this fails they act as arbitrator.
Yes, you might have made a deal for yourself but it was not good it was bad business.
By the way, the events have zero meaning. You tell the man the reason he did not get it was he was late on the buzzer, thats all. than you decide freight was to much for him without asking, you worry about paypal and finish by saying he is a fool who you would not sell it to anyway?
It is people like you that give selling on line a bad name.
Thanks Snipershot and Tom, I wouldn't have been upset if he hadn't returned my call last week and told me I was next on the list. Then called me back on the 4th and told me I had to get a hold of him that day or he would move on to the next buyer. Then to just ignore my calls, emails, posts, and private messages because he found a better deal didn't set well at all. Then to come back on there with all these reasons why he backed out of our deal. He was the one that said he wanted to go with Paypal and that he would pay for the shipping. Where he ever got that I was in Canada only he knows. Please can anyone can show me where I posted anything negative about him or this deal before he backed out and started the name calling me names. I was taught at a young age that your word is a bond same as a handshake. If your word isn't any good what else have you got.
Let me explain something to you. You're spinning your wheels. Forget it, move on and chalk it up to a lesson learned. You are dealing in the world of billiards where a handshake or someone's word is, in many instances, worthless. Do you understand that; it's worthless!
The seller clearly stated, "I made the best deal that I could for myself". That's all he was intereted in. I would be willing to wager that if you had a deal with him, and the new deal where the buyer picked it up came into play, you would have lost the deal. He claims he didn't want to open himself to a Paypal chargeback. That's BS - if you ship the item with tracking and the item is signed for, paypal will side with him.
Take it from where it came from and move on. There will be other deals. Look at it this way... if you bought it and if the lathe had an issue, do you think he would have helped you out once he had your money? Case closed. Consider yourself fortunate.
Joe, I'm sure your right about most of this and I would have let it go. But when he comes on here and twists the truth to make himself look better and calls me names. It's kind of hard to just turn the other cheek. I know you have caught your share of BS from some people on this site. Maybe like you I need to grow a little thicker skin. I know you wouldn't remember me but I bought your DVDs, some cored ebony, and some other odds and ends from you. And they were all first rate. We talked on the phone a couple of times and you were very patient with me and willing to point me in the right direction. When I do get a new lathe you'll be the first guy I'll be calling. JUSTABANGER.
LOL - Thicker skin!! Put on an Eskimo coat!
I said it before, just take it from where it comes from. His statement, I made the best deal that I could for myself"", is very telling. People are not stupid. Move on and forget it. He did you a favor. Go buy a new lathe from Hightower without any problems; it will save you hundreds in repair or tweaking costs and hours of screwing around fixing someone elses problems.
Thanks for the kind words, go have a beer and enjoy the weekend.
I don't see where he would need to save any money. The asking price was right at The Deluxe Hightower price, it was the extras he got screwed out of.
Most of the sight unseen stuff was from Cue Components so based on that I would say it should be good stuff.
I knew this deal was going South the first day. I sold 3 such packages with a Deluxe Hightower over the years for over 4K each. Where I come from they would say the man welched on the deal.
Is anyone saying the guy did the right thing and Justabanger didn't get screwed?
Maybe if the amount is small, but I doubt you will find a bank who will cash a $30K check without you having an account and they will vouch for it, even if it was your brother
