I have a early to mid eighty's Verl Horn cue fresh from being refinished.

Specs;
2 shafts 1-12 mm & 3.8 oz one 12.8mm & 3.9oz
Butt weighs 15.5 oz
Joint 5/16-18 piloted & looks like Micarta
Index work at all 5 locations
Forearm 6 (3 hi 3 lo) spliced Ebony points in B E Maple
Butt sleeve 12 Maple windows in ebony sleeve Acrylic butt cap
White/green Linen wrap
There is a 3rd shaft but it is pretty warped.

The cue looks better since it was refinished! Was you able to get the warped forearm fixxed also?

Yes, I sent it to a custom maker & he replaced the handle section & refinished the cue. It now spins & rolls straight.
 
The "horn" brand on the butt cap I thought was done in the late 60s & early 70s, the green and white wrap is correct for the early Horn Cues, I got mine in 1969 from verl, anyhoo Nice lookin cue, good luck with the sale, seems like it is priced very reasonable.

No the "branding" continued on well into the 80's according to Jack Shurtz who worked with Verl for several years starting in about 82 or 83
 
Just so you know, I have a Horn cue from the same period (late 70's-early 80's), with exactly the same forearm and joint. The only difference is that the buttsleeve in mine has ivory rings and 4 ivory boxes. It has not been refinished and has some age spots. I sent pictures to the Prather family, who are the experts on Horn cues according to the blue book. They said my cue was worth about $2,000.

Grumpy's cue has been refinished - I think $850 is a steal. These are great old cues to own.

Bob Owen at Shurtz custom cues, Which is a partnership with Jack Shurtz who worked with & was good friends with Verl Horn for 15 years & probably knew Verl and his work as well as anybody.
