Here's one of a few tribute cues made at the Carmeli shop for Valley Forge this year in the style of the McDaniel "Mac Attack." This cue has 4 purpleheart points into maple. The cue weighs 18.9 oz. and has 2 clean maple shafts 13mm with linen melamine ferrules. Black linen wrap. Ivory/ ebony diamonds at base of points and at birdseye maple rear. Flat-face joint 3/8-10 with white grice sleeve. Made to play good. $625.00 shipped in CONUSA.

I'm asking this because I don't know, why do these cues look like they say "Carmeli's shop" instead of his regular signature?

Thanks,

Doug

It's possible that they say that considering he has people working in his shop that make a lot of the (relatively) lower end cues. I don't know the current situation, but I do know a guy who used to make some of the sneakies coming out of his shop. I think it's good that it says Carmeli Shop instead of his signature since he didn't make it. I would assume he inspects as much as he can to make sure it's up to his standards though.

Great question. The cues that are signed "Carmeli Shop" were made at Ariel's shop on Ariel's equipment to Ariel's specs and standards. Ariel works on each cue with his hands (and also supervises)--otherwise he wouldn't sign them at all. On the "shop" cues the helper might do a larger percentage of the work, including preparation--but Ariel works on every cue.

Its a terrific white phenolic called Grice. I wish it was still made. Can't get buttcap size anymore.
