FS: old school maple player

Here is a real old-school look player in curly maple from the guys at Carolina Cues. This one has the white w/green specks wrap and black phenolic rings above/below the wrap that have double silver beauty rings with abalone dots inset in them. It is a real cool looking cue and will make a really nice, affordable player. The wood has some good figure that does not show up in the pix.

-Butt: 14.8 ounces
-Shaft: 3.9 ounces, 13.2mm, LBM, Everest tip
-3/8x10 stainless steel pinned, wood to wood joint
-Black phenolic joint collars with silver beauty rings
-Nice curly maple forearm
-Black phenolic rings above/below wrap with double silver beauty rings and abalone dots set between them
-White with green specks pressed irish linen wrap
-Solid curly maple butt sleeve
-White phenolic butt cap with trademark "CC" logo

Thanks guys...it is a heck of a buy. The wood has a real curly maple shimmer to it that the photos just don't pick up. Old school looks with modern materials.

It is sort of like a resto-mod...OK, I have been watching too much Barrett-Jackson...

You know, this cue reminds me of the abalone ringwork Ginacue PJ (Okay, not so "Plain" Jane) that was displayed in the Cue Gallery section a couple months ago. Same kind of dot inlay in the ringwork, except he had BEM instead of Curly. Then again, the Gina probably cost 10 times the price of this baby. IMO, great chance to own a cue that has a similar classy design to a Ginacue. Usually look-alikes of Ginas and high end cues are cheaply made, which is why people don't like them. I doubt that's the case with this stick.

You are right about that. Tons of people like this style cue because they are great players and they can pick up a super player without spending a fortune, allowing them to use them in bars, etc without worrying too much about theft, damage, etc.

The early designs of Ginacues and Tad for this type cue are certainly the ones that many cuemakers try to emulate. They are classic in their style and understated classiness....good players, too.
